Booing parker

in a way i find the sarcastic clapping worse than saying "fuck off". the f word is an off the cuff spontaneous outburst, and if he genuinely had positive feelings for the club or fans he'd have regretted it immediately. instead he follows it up a while later with total derision at those who pay his wages, demonstrating an actual inner hostility rather than just a one-off moment of madness. no way he should be captain.

where do you think he got that from then?

For the record I never said he should never play again, but how can anyone justify a player telling practically an entire stand to "fuck off" and then sarcastically applauding them in the midst of potentially his worst performance for the club? The captain, no less. Admittedly the East Stand IS gash, though.

It's just another measure of despair in my mind, because other than at half-time and after Sheff Utd scored I thought the support for the lads on a mong of a night/game was fairly outstanding, that's what makes it galling.

I've never been one to slam Parker, but he was bang out of order.

There's a canny bit of precious self-righteous bullshit in this thread like.  People saying he should never play for us again etc.  What a load of bollocks.  He made a mistake in the heat of the moment.  He'll know it was a mistake.  He might apologise, or he might want to let it just go away and concentrate on his job.  Any dickhead that's planning on booing him at the next game because of a mistake he made in the heat of the moment shouldn't even bother turning up, because we're in the shit and all need to be pulling in the same direction.

Gets on my fucking tits how precious some Newcastle fans are.

So speaks the most literate Soopafan around

Was gonna say, I'd tell the East Stand to fuck off

I'm more upset about the state of the club than what he did or didn't do to be honest. I'll excuse Parker shirking a tackle and a producing a poor performance or telling fans to fuck off especially when he's not fully fit and has by and large been a consistent performer for us since he signed while many around him have had a mare or two, including our former Captain. I actually respect him more for telling fans to fuck off because it shows he at least cares in a convoluted way, when people take things personally that to me is a sign of passion. It obviously hurt him and I want players who are hurting in our team.

From what we know of Parker he's an honest person, you just have to look at his angst ridden reaction to Bullard's injury and how he puts himself about on the pitch. I'm sure he's kicking himself somewhere and will make up for it.

Unlike the real wasters at this club who hide and have no sense of pride or passion for their own personal game never mind the well being of the team and club.

Steve Wraith, editor of magazine Player Inc, said: "We've experienced relegation before and it's a real possibility again.

"A taxi driver said to me if I'd been married and divorced seven times and I said to you, I'm a brilliant husband, it's all the wives' fault, you wouldn't believe me. And that's how a lot of fans feel about the board and the managers.

A club spokesman confirmed it would look into a complaint from company director, Mark Tserkezie, that United captain Scott Parker and right-back Stephen Carr shouted at fans in St James's Park's East Stand.

Mr Tserkezie, who lives in Wardley, Gateshead, said: "I can forget the Stephen Carr incident as I don't have a great deal of admiration for him as a football talent and feel he is at the tailend of his career.

"However, for Parker to do this is unacceptable and inexcusable, even if he were to cite frustration as his justification.

"Many, many fans were left devastated about the incident."

Good analogy that!

Aye, just a bit! Poor sensitive soul. What sense does it make anyway? It's ok for Carr to do it because he's shite, but Parker can't because he's canny??!

Lay off Parker urges Barton

Apr 4 2007

By Alan Oliver, The Evening Chronicle

Warren Barton, who at one time was given a rough ride by the Newcastle United supporters, has appealed to the fans to lay off skipper Scott Parker.

The former United full-back was at St James' Park for Saturday's defeat by Manchester City in a new and successful role as a Sky Sports summariser - just as he will be at Bramall Lane in three days' time for the match with Sheffield United.

Barton is another Cockney by birth who is proud to be a Geordie by adoption and who still refers to Newcastle United as "we."

And speaking from his home in London, he told me today: "I could not believe it when the supporters turned on Scott Parker on Saturday.

"Nobody knows more than me that every single supporter has a right to an opinion and the right to express that opinion, but I was disappointed at what I heard on Saturday.

"For if ever a player gave 100% for Newcastle United that player is Scotty Parker. When he pulls on that black-and-white shirt he is so committed it is untrue.

"The way he flies into tackles I have to say that he is putting himself in danger of personal injury.

"And whenever things are going wrong you could put your house on the fact he is the one player who never hides.

"In my view he is a great lad and he has turned out to be great signing for my old club."

When Barton arrived at St James' Park in a £4m move from Wimbledon in the summer of 1995 he was actually the world's most expensive defender.

But he was able to joke today: "In the eyes of some Newcastle supporters I was also the world's worst defender."

Barton won over the United supporters and he is now part of Graham Forster's stable on the talk-in circuit, and when he returns to Tyneside he has almost a cult status.

His club is undoubtedly Newcastle United and he was as disappointed as anyone at Saturday's defeat by Manchester City.

He added: "City made it awkward for us, but if I have one complaint, it was that the tempo of United's play was too slow.

"What is needed these days, especially at St James' Park, is to start off with a house on fire, with every player giving his all.

"That's what Parker did on Saturday and it is obvious he wants to play for Newcastle United - that makes what happened all the more disappointing.

"Indeed I could have understood it if the fans had had a go at some of the other players.

"For there are players at Newcastle who should take a leaf out of Scotty's book, and I only hope what happened to Gary Speed in his last couple of seasons at St James' Park does not happen to Parker.

"Football is just the same as life in as much as you do not appreciate what you have got until you have no longer got it."

The United captain was distraught on Saturday night at a time when he should have been celebrating after the birth of his son.

And what will go through his mind when he leads United out against Arsenal in the next game at St James' Park on Monday is open to conjecture.

Parker made his United debut against Arsenal at Highbury in the opening day of the 2005-06 season when he had the travelling Toon Army chanting his name.

And in the corresponding game at St James' Park last season, Parker had to be helped off in the closing stages because he was clearly physically exhausted after running himself into the ground.
