Aye I think most of the ones we've been getting are in the 16-18 bracket. I thought we'd get them with one eye on this competition but clearly not.

That’ll be an Ashworth change. Brighton send their loanees to clubs that play their type of football. This will be the next evolution.

Guess that our Intensity is taking much toll on adult body let alone teenagers that are still growing so we don't play that system

I think we’ve done much better, can’t fault the effort from our boys. Parkinson should be buried that chance first half.

These have obviously been much better but two of their goals have been because of incredibly daft challenges in the box to give them pens.
 

Scoreline does accurately reflect the gulf in quality though.

Think the refs are sometimes generous at this level. That #10 is mustard and just got a toe in - McArthur was tired and late but you could argue not malicious.

Saw him at training ground v Forest and he was good then too. Stood out along with Neave and Tom Bryant

Yeah the academy is very much in keeping with the 5 year plan - still a way to go - good thing is we are starting from the bottom and the only way is up

It's now played three won three at home so far this season for United's U18 side, following their latest conquest against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

A bright start by the black and whites failed to produce a goal, both Joe Brayson and Darren Palmer firing narrowly wide from Leo Shahar's deliveries.

Rovers were given the chance to open the scoring on 34 minutes when goalkeeper Aidan Harris impeded Junior Nsango at the cost of a penalty.

Nsango got up to take the kick but pinged his effort of the angle of crossbar and post - United's Travis Hernes rattling the goal frame at the other end soon after.

Newcastle went ahead two minutes after the restart when Trevan Sanusi touched home Shahar's centre from the right.

That lead was in danger just four minutes later when Rovers were awarded another spot kick; Zack Stritch this time stepping up to see his effort blocked by Harris, who was on the bench in Milan on Tuesday.

Match referee Samuel Ross gave his third penalty of the afternoon on 56 minutes, Brayson sending Adam Khan the wrong way from 12 yards for 2-0.

Graham Carrick's youngsters opened up a three goal lead on the hour mark, thanks to a close range finish - Palmer credited with the last touch by the PL reporter present but colleague Luke Craggs congratulated by his colleagues.

Sanusi was then denied a fourth by Khan before going off - a lively display from the home debutant the highlight of an encouraging team performance.
