They have a long way to go before being near the first team. You’d be looking at the ones who’ve made the bench like Neave and Shahar, possibly Murphy after his Bolton loan (not sure how he did there). We have decent players at youth level but no standouts. Being at the level of City is where we should aspire to. It’s the only way we’re going to be able to compete with them in the future. Develop our own and sell them for £20m every couple of seasons. Alabi has already been training with the first team - around February. He’ll be the next Miley. He’s also in centre mid where we are short beyond the top lads. healthyaddiction
I've noticed that Finneran we signed from Blackburn has been playing with our under 21s a lot, even when he was 16 (I think he's 17 now). I think he also made his first team debut for Blackburn when he was 15. I've never watched him, but that all makes me think he's a big talent. A defensive midfielder too, which we could use. His contract is up, he’s 23 next season. He also might just want to get a kick start on his career. He’s played nearly 100 games at EFL level though. Idk like what’s the point of getting your youth this experience and then not having a pathway for them into your first team. Munda has always looked decent to me, just keeps things ticking over, breaks up play well. Think he has been on the bench for first team before. Matheos Ferreira is another decent winger but still v young. Edited June 4 by Joelinton7

Munda has always impressed me when I’ve watched the academy games online and he appears physically more ready than others. Would be nice if players don’t make it here, we at least get some cash for these players to EFL teams, rather than them sloping off to the Northern League for free

I was having a look at the stats and Finneran played 6 games for the U21's, Munda in comparison has played 12, so Finneran might be a bit behind him

But I really have no idea, it just seems impressive that he seems to be raising through the levels so young.

joeyt Posted Friday at 21:33 Share Posted Friday at 21:33 The Mail report that Newcastle are set to complete a deal for Rangers left back Oliver Goodbrand, with the 16 year-old heading to Tyneside soon for his medical. The Scottish U16 international debuted for the Rangers B team in a Glasgow Cup game aged 15 and as an academy scholar would be available upon payment of compensation

Give them a season or two and then ease them in. Cathal Heffernan is one I completely missed.

Apparently also after Alfie Hutchinson from Rangers too, who’s a young winger who's done well at Rangers youth having signed to some fanfare from Hearts the season before. I didn’t realise Goodbrand was also youth captain for Scotland too suggesting agin it’s as much about character and leadership as ability we are targeting

aussiemag
You would think Neave, Harrison, Sanusi, Murphy, Shahar, Hernes, Pivas, Munda, Salia will all be looked at for preseason games.

Not sure Pivas will as I think he may still be ineligible for a UK permit. So imagine it will be back out on loan somewhere again.
