Stu
Walking into the ground today: - group of school kids singing 'Shearer's Coming Home' - 3 mean dressed as rabbits being escorted away by the police - a lad barely 16 dressed head to toe in a full police uniform (must have ben his dad's) - NUSC blaring out Shearer songs and handing out sweets to little kids it's all a bit random today... But then you re-entered reality when the game kicked off. Yeah, the atmosphere sounded shite. Even when the teams were about to kick off it was fairly shit. Pav
Outside the ground was cringeworthy as fuck. Hey shearer getting blasted out, people who weren't even going to the match dancing infront of cameras and that shite drum band. It got even worse when they played 'hey Shearer' in the ground. It was also another complete no-show from the rest of the ground. They can sing when they're standing outside the ground but when they're in it they sit on their hands all game. You wouldn't have guessed Shearer had come back
Skirge
Was shit, Al doing his "its not about me" bit sort of dampened it down , waited till the last min to come out of the tunnel and nash straight to his seat, should have came to the touchline and give a bit to get it going. 9
And what were they doing with all those ballons? apart from causing a traffic jam. Was well and truly a Shearer theme park today
Stu
what I couldn't understand was the whole NUSC message of last week being about getting behind the team, Shearer himself saying he wanted it to be about the team... ...then NUSC go and pay for a banner to herald the return of Shearer and stick it up outside the box office. surely they weren't just jumping on the populist bandwagon to curry favour with the supporters? the whole 'carnival' atmosphere outside the ground seemed to detract from the atmosphere. An opportunity lost, I think.
Thespence
What was the atmosphere like? Everyone is shitting themselves until we go 1 up, you can feel the tension. The Arsenal game proves 17:30 kick offs are better for atmosphere as more people turn up jolly after a few beers.
Tsunami
Atmosphere was poor; team was much worse. Strong words needed come Monday.
pedro111
Yeah, the atmosphere was piss poor for some reason, just one of those days I guess. Did anyone see the bloke dressed as Jesus with SHEARER 9 on the back of his robe?

I think it was your good self who once said there's nothing like a bit of Geordie injustice to get us going. We need some of that when it's still 0-0, usually gets the crowd completely riled up.
