macca888
More than adequate? Do me a favour with that biased nonsense, he has 3 premier league goals and 16 in the championship, 3 of those being penalties. If that's more than adequate, David Nugent is on the verge of being world class. Lovenkrands didnt have a pre season last year and for the majority of the first half of the season, he was either shunted out to the left wing or used off the bench. It wasnt until January that he started to find form when he was played in his proper position. Coincidentally, it was about the same time that Carroll started knoocking in the goals as well. Better service from midfield especially the wings was the major influence here. This year, with a decent rest behind them, no world cup commitments, good pre season together and a more confident group of players, I see no reason why both players cannot score regularly for the club. Looking at our current opponents, I see them as being a better pairing up front than the likes of West Ham, Wigan, Blackpool, WBA, Stoke, Wolves and Bolton currently have on their books. Ronaldo
Lovenkrands hasn't scored regularly at this level in his entire career, why would he start now? He'll be an absolute passenger in the PL.
Guest BooBoo
Frightening to think that we are even considering AC and PL as a striking duo in the Premier League. Think I said it in another thread and I'm not normally pessimistic, but at the moment I'm pretty sure we will go straight back down. Our current strongest XI is weak by top flight standard and I just can't where the goals will come from.
Guest BooBoo
Lovenkrands isn't quick though.
Crumpy Gunt
[move]Go back top your constituancies and prepare for... relegation![/move] This squad will almost certainly be relegated.
Guest JamesyJazz
AC will scare the sh*t out of many prem defences with his physical presence and play,I'm certain PL will score goals given decent service. We need to ensure that there is creative play from the midfield,a fully fit and functional Joey Barton(providing he doesn't pagga someone on or off pitch)could be the provider. I don't understand the defeatest attitude prevailing on here that we're going straight back down.Ok,we're not going to be top 4 but we'll be midtable imo. Lenny
Lovenkrands won't be prolific but given the chance he will score a few goals. If played as first choice striker I think he could break 10 in all competitions. I wouldn't want to rely on him though.
Guest
Probably not popular but the more the summer goes on with it looking less likely there'll be a new striker in, the more I'm leaning towards a midfield of Barton and Guthrie with Nolan just off Carroll. Guest
Also think that formation might give more game time to Vuckic as well over the course of the season.
summerof69
Lovenkrands isn't quick though. Lovenkrands is probably one of the quickest players in the premier league, imo, up there with Walcott, Lennon, Agbonlahor, Bellamy and even our very own Jose Enrique

Guest toonlass
Much as I love Lovenkrands, and he will get some goals, we do need a prolific goalscorer.
AyeDubbleYoo
Also think that formation might give more game time to Vuckic as well over the course of the season. I really hope he gets a decent go, although obviously the Premier League is a difficult place to start.

powellnufc
Ye he is quick but not super quick. What makes him look quicker is his movement. In terms of movement, I personally think he is one of the best, thats what seems to give him the extra couple of yards in behind defenders. He as that ability to spread the defence allowing the midfield to break through, or with the right midfield a little through ball and he is definatly in. I mean just look at what happened when he came on in the qpr match. I think he is the perfect foil for Carroll, who battles away with the centrebacks but is not quite as mobile

Sure Harry Redknapp knows a man who can sell us something for brass buttons.
powellnufc
I think Lovenkrands goal tally more depends on the midfield Every game he is getting into the right positions and if he is put through he hardly ever misses. It all depends if we have someone in midfield that can put the ball through for him to run on to. Guthrie and Barton have the ability to do that
Guest neesy111
as with our strikers mainly carroll, how many goals we score depends on the service from our midfield. remember it was when routledge was signed that carroll and lovenkrands went on their good scoring run's last season

summerof69
Ok i will accept i was wrong and he isn't that quick but he is pretty pacey even if he isn't that quick. I will also accept it was an embarrasing comment to make.
