Zero
I would say Keeper is a strange position where GK coaching probably matters very little. If a keeper is really good at it, got the talent, he should be shining before 20 already. The tradition belief of Keeper is maturing later than other position is not always correct. In fact, we always see promising keepers suddenly become shit before 25 years old, say Ustari. I ain't sure what is the ultimate reason for Kruls failure but I don't think lack of coaching is a key one.
Sho Time
I don't think there's any doubt it's down to injuries and also a lack of motivation due to the dampening down of expectations under Mike Ashley, which has resulted in no actual competition to push him. To Mike Ashley there's never been any point in having 2 "purple" goalkeepers at the club.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Not going anywhere, according to Michael Bridges on optus sports today. Krul knows he isn't in Rafa's plans but he wants to stay (and not play for a year) all to ensure he gets the final year of salary from his NUFC contract? He must think himself that he's well past his best (and won't get another salary paying anywhere near what he currently gets) if he's willing to take a year off. He's only 29 years old so maybe he thinks a year off won't harm his chances of getting a new club in a year when he can leave for free?

thenige
Clubs have tacked on he's finished. Wasn't that long ago Craig Gordon was finished, now he's Scotland's number one and playing for Celtic in the Champions League. Wouldn't write Krul off just yet. He's only 29 years old so maybe he thinks a year off won't harm his chances of getting a new club in a year when he can leave for free? Aye, that one year will be worth something like £2.5m to him so if he thinks he's not likely to get a decent deal wherever he ends up if he leaves now then it makes financial sense for him to hang on and take the payday. Plus, if he waits it out for a year not only does he get his inflated NUFC salary but he'll also be a free agent and so can command a much higher salary from his next club. LoveItIfWeBeatU
Other clubs probably won't view his year off very favourably. It will almost certainly mean he'd end up moving to a club with a lower stature than if he played. I doubt NUFC want a huge fee for him. Maybe he's turning down permanent transfer offers, banking on getting loaned out for his final season so he keeps the salary.

henke
Sad whats happened to him tbh. What has happened to him? He was no world beater but he was easily better than Elliott and Darlow. Was it the injury or was he knacked before, I can't remember. He's been spacejammed.
Figures 1-0 Football
Strange that people feel sorry for Krul. If he wanted to play football he could move to literally hundreds of different clubs. The bloke is obviously happy to sit earning a salary and doing fuck all.

The fact that he is still here, months (maybe even a year) after being told he's not wanted. He could easily get a move, especially if he was happy to play somewhere like the Championship. Raconteur
Doesn't want to leave the area. Doesn't want to take a (potentially huge) pay cut. Is a professional who backs his own ability and sees jokers in front of him. He's hardly doing "fuck all" - he's training with the kids ffs. He still has to keep himself match fit despite knowing he's never likely to play again for the club he's been with since a teenager. It's not like he's doing blow and banging hookers. It's not hard to empathise with his situation.
Miercoles
Would rather have Krul than Elliot if it comes down to it.
Guest
If Krul was even 70% of peak Krul then I'm sure he'd be number 1. He's obviously not even that keeper anymore. He might get it back somewhere else but we can't take that risk.

On probably a significantly lower wage? My heart bleeds that Tim may have to go from earning £40,000 a week to £20,000 in order to actually play football at a level that is reflective of his ability. Poor bloke.

Newcastle Fan
I still believe he is the best goalkeeper we got and i feel bad for the way he is being treated at the moment, he deserves better.
Figures 1-0 Football
He probably thinks he can play at a higher level than the Championship like Aye, not saying that is his only destination, if he want back to Holland for example his wage would probably be similar there. As I said, there are plenty of teams out there that would be willing to take him as he would undoubtedly improve them.
