Potential loanees

Van der Meyde please (not a loanee I know)

Doesn't he not have some well documented personal problems? I'm sure he fell out with Moyes a number of times. Quite injury prone as well.

Armand Traore would be a great loan signing as back up for Jose and Jonas. Weiss from Man City would probably go straight into the side on the right of midfield as well.

Am amazed that he could end up at the World Cup without playing senior football, why isnt he hammering on Hughes' door to get a loan move for his own good?

Hughton said he's going to assess the squad before making any decisions on any more loans, but he's still in the market.

How much assessing does he need to do? If we need anything, we need a winger, it's simple really.

I think the performance of Lovenkrands and Lua lua on tuesday underline that point. Wingers need to have a work ethic not just ponce about on the periphery wishing they were up front.

We've got a winger with a work ethic. We need one who can create something now.

We need wingers who can do their job better than Barton or Guthrie first and foremost, anything on top of that is a bonus.

Guthrie's not done too badly, two assists from the wing in his last two appearences there. That's as many as Jonas has managed in this calander year. What we really need is a genuine out and out winger with a bit of pace who isn't scared to take on a man and is OK at crossing. Doesn't need to be anything spectacular, just good enough to give us some width and spread the game a bit; give us a different option. Maybe we can persuade Ruel Fox to come out of retirement.

dos Santos has had his loan move to Deportivo rejected by the Spanish FA so that might be worth a cheeky punt now.

don`t see what would be so cheeky about it? Spurs want rid of him by the looks of things.

thing is though how fit is he? he hasnt had much 1st team football and spurs don't have a reserve side this year

Zurab Khizanishvili set to return to Blackburn Rovers -Chronicle Live

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/12/12/zurab-khizanishvili-set-to-return-to-blackburn-rovers-72703-25376753/

ZURAB KHIZANISHVILI may have kicked his last ball for Newcastle United.

But Chris Hughton believes that the ex-Rangers man will have played his part if the Magpies return to the Premier League in May.

The Georgian international was on United duty for one last time today at Barnsley before his loan spell with the Magpies expires.

The eastern European will be back training with Blackburn Rovers on Monday morning as the terms of his loan deal only stretch for the next seven days, meaning he is ineligible for next Sunday’s Tyne-Tees derby with Middlesbrough.

Toon boss Hughton told the Chronicle: “Zurab goes back to Blackburn. It is his last game today.

“Unfortunately for us, when we agreed the loan deal the fixtures weren’t arranged fully for TV and the Boro game was moved to the Sunday.

“It meant he would not be able to play.”

Khizanishvili has not appeared since being sent off against Doncaster Rovers in October after putting his hands round the neck of Billy Sharp following an altercation.

And after serving a three-game ban, United have won their last seven games.

Khizanishvili wanted the number 13 shirt on his arrival at Newcastle and it has proved to be somewhat unlucky, with United conjuring up just two wins in his six appearances.

But Hughton says: "He has played his part for us.

"Not only has he played a part on the field, he has been a great lad to have around.

"He’s a good professional. He came at a time when we were short- handed and needed players.

"We needed his quality and his experience.

"Yes, it has been a good move for us."

Hughton has not ruled out a fresh move in the new year for the defender.

He said: "We’ll have to assess our options.

"Certainly it’s one that we wouldn’t close the door on."

He'll need replacing, it's seriously depressing at times, we have a thin squad and now because of the dates of the loan we lose a player for 3 games.
