What's the difference between the cases we've seen the last week, and us with N'Zogbia?

apparently chelseas was different as the player was under contract where as in our case, and as i understand  it man utd's the player was under an agreement to sign a contract when old enough.

Here's a novel idea, but how about these French clubs stop making a 13-year old kid sign a contract for something that won't come into effect until 3 years down the line, as is the case with this Helan and City?

Don't they only do that to try and ensure they get at least some form of financial recompense when the kid is poached by an English club?

Yeah i mean why should these clubs be compensated for looking after these kids from the age of 8 to 16? They should just sit back and let them move for free, who cares if they become the next Zidane or Henry, if it means an English club benefitting? ;D

They should just ban all transfers under 18

Yup.

I agree in principle, but then it'll be even more of a cattle market for signing up as many kids as possible at the first opportunity. Maybe there should be some sort of maximum yearly intake?

Would make more sense, just a bastard for anyone born in Africa with disgraceful facilities and living conditions which would no doubt set their progress back maybe even stop it. For the most part though over 18 is the best idea thf

Perhaps clubs would be more inclined to set up facilities in other countries or establish partnerships with clubs outside this country to ensure that they would still have access to young, foreign players.  A (relatively) rich club could set up a partnership with a small African club, where the European club pays for upgrading the facilities in exchange for first dibs on their players, it would benefit both clubs.

Or even something where the club where the player is taken from is entitled to 50% of future transfer fees upto the age of 25. I still think it's wrong a young player should be penalised to move to a big club at 16 to 18 because of a decision they were too young to make, or was made for them.

They just all whinge.

Slap a transfer ban on all of France, in and out, and the problem would soon be solved.

Can we not do that with all people, it would keep the french away.  Would prevent 1066 from happening again.

Le Havre have refused to back down in their transfer row with Manchester United.

The French outfit are insistent that United broke transfer rules when they snapped up 16-year-old Paul Pogba.

United were quick to hit back at Le Havre, and Sir Alex Ferguson told them to retract their comments.

But chairman Jean-Pierre Louvel says there will be no apology from the Stade Jules Deschaseaux, and he claims that they are pushing ahead with their case.

"It is corruption of a young player, he was under contract," Louvel told L'Equipe.

"Threats won't make us step back. Our lawyers will submit the case to Fifa, we will go until CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) if needed.

"Pogba had to sign a trainee contract, but he didn't do it, and his parents didn't want to.

"Now he has no licence to play at Manchester, and FFF (French Football Federation) didn't give him a letter of release, which means there is a problem.

"The big clubs can't act that way. The player has been lost, but we expect sanctions to protect our education."

Not sure about the Man Utd cases(inc Fiorentina) as they waited so long then saw Chelsea get fined and thought 'oh hello lets try it ourselves' instead of showing FIFA when it actually happened. Lets face it Le Havre are miserable moaning turds at the best of times

I wonder what they meant by ban ???

Croatian keeper 'to join Chelsea'

Croatian side Inter Zapresic claim they have agreed a deal with Chelsea that will see their teenage goalkeeper Matej Delac move to Stamford Bridge in 2011.

The 17-year-old will stay in Croatia with Chelsea paying his wages.

But he will train with the Blues whenever possible before joining on a five-year contract, Zapresic claim.

Chelsea are banned from registering new players until 2011 after they were found to have induced Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.

Zapresic sporting director Branko Laljak said: "This deal will save us from bankruptcy.

"We are proud to have sold one of our players to one of the strongest clubs in the world."

Delac, who only turned 17 in August, broke the record for the youngest Croatian player ever called up for international duty when Slaven Bilic named him in his squad to face England at Wembley earlier this month.

Chelsea are only banned from registering any new players IIRC so they can sign and pay for whoever they want but they will not be able to play in 'official' sanctioned matches. Punishing them by banning the signing would be illegal by European law but they can be prevented from exchanging registration which is under football law.

Aye, their ban is for registering new players. They can still buy players and get them to sign contracts with them, they're just not allowed to be registered for games.

Only been watching this for the last couple of weeks, got two or three left in the second series to watch but this and where Will kicks off at Neil's Dad for being gay in his own house are the two stomach aching moments of the series' so far.

Back to Chelski...

Can they play in the reserve league, for example?

No. Not allowed in any FA, FL, UEFA or FIFA sanctioned games. Basically that extends to anything with an FA sanctioned referee in charge. They could play closed doors games but in the eyes of FIFa their registration remains with the parent club.
