wormy
Fantastic for Barca. That he's got muscle fatigue problems? Well, not exactly! At least he's taking precautions so they can get the best out of him.
Village Idiot
The guy hasn't really stopped playing since 2008. European Championship, Confed Cup, World Cup... all mixed with a regular season where he usually plays 45+ games every year. He's completely knackered and has had to miss a few games this season due to muscle and ligament fatigue. He's won everything with Spain, so it's not that he would leave through the back door... summerof69
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/9153999.stm Former France coach Raymond Domenech is seeking £2.5m in severance pay, claiming he was made a "scapegoat" for his team's poor World Cup performance. Domenech was reportedly sacked from his role on the French Football Federation technical advisory board in September. He stood down as France coach after a dismal World Cup, in which his side failed to make it out of their group. Domenech will seek the compensation from an employment tribunal, his lawyer told L'Equipe newspaper on Wednesday. The FFF reportedly sacked Domenech for three "grave errors", including Nicola Anelka's expulsion from France's squad, the subsequent training boycott and his refusal to shake the hand of South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira after the final group game. The World Cup controversies forced FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes to resign, while head of state Nicolas Sarkozy pledged to personally lead an investigation. France started their World Cup campaign with a goalless draw with Uruguay but lost 2-0 to Mexico in their next game. Chelsea striker Anelka reportedly clashed with Domenech at half-time during the Mexico game and was sent home from the World Cup. The rest of the France squad refused to train in protest at the decision, and Domenech had to read out a statement from them explaining their actions. Domenech's final match as France coach was a 2-1 defeat by hosts South Africa, which ended in a bizarre exchange with South Africa coach Parreira as Domenech refused the offer of a handshake and instead wagged his finger at his fellow coach. Domenech, who replaced Jacques Santini in 2004, guided France to the 2006 World Cup final, where they lost to Italy on penalties after Zinedine Zidane was sent off in the second half of extra time. However, the coach did not always enjoy the full support of fans, particularly during a disappointing Euro 2008 campaign where France picked up only one point and finished bottom of their group. Former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc replaced Domenech in July and led the side to the top of their Euro 2012 qualifying group four games. OzzieMandias
Kent's exactly the sort of place you find loads of Man U fans. Probably loads of Liverpool fans, too. There are no league teams in Kent except Gillingham, who have always been crap. Charlton the nearest team of any consequence, and their history isn't that inspiring either. Having said that, there only seems to be one Man U fan involved in the forthcoming Rooney conflagration.
Exiled in Texas
Actually after I read the article (after posting) it seems that this town creates a celebrity Guy each year for the bonfire and had picked Rooney to take the p*** out of him rather than as Man U fans.
