Was at the biggest youth tournament in the area today, they usually have some pretty good tents up with stuff in it. Found one that's usually not there and had a lot of old shirts from all kinds of different nations. Found this absolute gem.

Taken from the David-Sullivan interview

Benni McCarthy’s body-fat measurement is 24.2 per cent. Mine is 25.4 per cent. Benni McCarthy is nearly as fat as me. I try to do aerobics in the morning but I’m 61 years old.

‘He’s the one West Ham player I want to go to the World Cup because he might come back fitter.

‘Franck Queudrue once came back to Birmingham at 18 per cent but I’ve never known any footballer over 20 per cent. He got so out of shape. He came to us overweight and got injured and gradually it got worse.

‘I don’t know at what point this becomes a breach of contract. It probably doesn’t. But Frankie Dettori starves himself to get to the right weight. Usain Bolt wouldn’t be the Olympic 100metre champion if he put on a stone.

‘It is not unreasonable to keep to a diet when you’re a professional sportsman. It ought to be a breach of contract.

Thanks  O0

Strange, though why he's wearing that imo.

A newcastle fan would have asked him to put it on.

Or he is signing in the near future, taking a £70k a week wage-cut to fulfil his dream of playing at St James'.

Lot No: 698

1955 F.A. Cup Final winners medal awarded to Newcastle Captain Jimmy Scoular

A circular medal - to obverse with figures of 2 footballers, F.A. shield and '1955', to the reverse 'THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE CUP WINNERS NEWCASTLE UNITED J.SCOULAR'. Hallmarked, Fattorini and Sons, 9ct gold, ring suspension, in original case.

Approx. 32mm diam.

Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000

Footnote:

The 1955 F.A. Cup Final was contested by Newcastle United and Manchester City. Newcastle won 3–1, with goals from Milburn, Mitchell and Hannah. Bobby Johnstone scored City's goal. Manchester City players wore flashy tracksuits during the lead up to the game and the game was labelled "the Gaudies v the Geordies".

Anyone own something like this? That estimated price seems quite reasonable to me, tbh.

Sexy football coming Down Under...? Ruud Gullit interested in coaching Australia:

Gullit interested in coaching Australia

May 31, 2010

By Soccernet staff

Ruud Gullit has revealed he would be interested in taking over as boss of Australia after the World Cup finals.

Pim Verbeek is to step down as coach after the finals, and the Socceroos are now hunting for a new man to lead to the nation at the Asian Cup as well as in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup finals.

Gullit, who managed Chelsea and Newcastle United in England before having short, failed spells in charge of Feyenoord and LA Galaxy, has not managed in international football before.

"Of course I would consider it (coaching Australia). It's very nice there,'' he said. "I love Australia, I've been to Sydney. What I like about Australia is the people are very sport minded, very much, they love it. And of course the temperature is nice, the environment is nice.

"Maybe that's the reason why the Dutch coaches do so well.''

Australia's past two coaches have been Dutch, with Guus Hiddink leading them to the 2006 World Cup finals before Verbeek was handed the role.

Hmmm...

Tragic end that. You're the countries talisman for years, then miss out on your biggest home event because you ate all the pies.

ill put this here

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/02/newcastle-debt-banks?

money we have coming on players we sold already is going to banks

The following day, 1 July, a mortgage was registered assigning St James' Park, the club's training ground and academy centre to the bank, as well as all their intellectual property such as brand names and even Newcastle's "trade secrets", whatever they may be.

Oooooooooooh...

Is it really news though? From reading your threads on the subject it seemed generally assumed that all the sales last year would end up covering the losses of playing in the CCC.
