Christ, this is probably stretching out because him and Ashley are enjoying spending the time together.

Furious Simon Grayson tells Jermaine Beckford to focus on Leeds - not Newcastle

By Sportsmail Reporter

Last updated at 12:28 AM on 08th January 2010

Simon Grayson has ordered Jermaine Beckford to continue doing his best until Newcastle match Leeds' valuation of the striker.

Grayson is fuming that Beckford's camp have leaked the news he has put in a transfer request.

He said: 'It's not ideal that its come out. We didn't want to make it public knowledge because we didn't want any disruptions.'

Sounds like he's seething, aye.

If they reject £1.5m or whatever we offered then we should just draw a line under it. People who have seen a lot more of him like Ronaldo say he wont be the answer next season so there has to be a cut off to what he is worth. Find a striker on loan(even Harewood for a small loan fee) and worry about it when we go up

Could help us if he left Leeds.

Burnley are set to offer Leeds boss Simon Grayson five times his current pay deal to become their new boss after Owen Coyle left for Bolton.

Grayson wants him gone. That's from a real ITK.

alternativly pay the little bit extra now safe in the knowledge that if he doesn't make the grade SHOULD we get promoted we can almost certainly sell him for at least what we paid whereas with harewood we pay and get little back on the pitch and nothing back financially.

See there you go, a bit of common sense.

He may not be the answer in the long term, but hes banging them in for league 1 and would be a great championship signing. I reckon if we are 70% sure of going up now, we could sign him and be 90% sure of going up (figures plucked out of air) on that basis he would be worth a couple of million on the basis that wed be able to sell him and the premiership money is far superior.

I would sooner take Marley's word for it then Ronaldo's, no way we get him for £1.5 mill, the low fee is mor down to his contract running out than low ability. Ufe he has 2 years left on his contract they would be wanting about £6mill for him, lets look at what he is worth to us not what he is worth to Leeds.

If they wanted £6m for him, they'd be the laughing stock of the world.

So if Villa wanted £200k for Harewood til June you know he will score here, where is the problem? We now have 6 months to find who we should get rather than wasting everyones time as we all know your perfect world scenario is an utter crock

So has Marley explained to you why nobody else wants this 'bargain of the century' footballer at such a low fee?

i don't know he'll score here. lets be honest for most of his time here the majority wouldn't have gave him a start due to his performances. if we get someone on loan i hope we are looking at who else is available.

Villa want to sell Harewood as he is also out of contract at the end of the season, its all opinions lads, some think Beckford will make it in the top flight some think he won't, its my opinion he IS worth the risk. I think when you have such an eye for goal that you will score goals in any league. I have way more faith in Beckford than in Carroll and lets face it who do you see us being able to sign instead of him? Our club is still a mess, we still hav a twat of an owner who won't spend big, we do not have a manager that top well known players want to come and play for. Those days are gone we are rebuilding here and Beckford is a good start.

Agree with this. He's not the answer to our prayers although him coming here and banging in 10 between now and May would probably see us promoted. Problem is you've got a player on a longish contract for large(ish) money who is compltely untried in the PL. Haven't seen him too often but when i have seen him he's not looked like a PL player.

There has to be a cut-off point and I think £1.5m for a player who will be worth nothing in 5 months time is a good offer. We need to stick to our guns and if that means losing out on him and getting someone else on a short-term loan to fill the gap then so be it. Don't like to see us held to ransom over the like of Beckford.
