Mike Williamson (now managing MK Dons)

Lascelles doesn't look an immediate improvement tbh. But i'm glad the Willo era is over.

Agreed. Lascelles really doesn't look like much at all.

Difference being Lascelles is 21 with two top flight appearances to his name, whereas Willo is ten years older and is still dogshit after 150 PL appearances.

Nailed.

"Doesn't look an immediate improvement", did you understand that?

Where does it seem like they didn't?

That they've mentioned age and experience which would indicate he would be better in the future (which I agree with). There's no difference in the short term. Neither are good enough to play CB for NUFC this weekend. One might be eventually but that's entirely besides the point me and Lotus were making.

So age and potential doesn't matter at all who you'd rather play if one of them has to play? If so, you're insane.

In the long-term yes. In the short-term no. I'd rather not play either for the foreseeable future. As the area is a weakness in the squad and the squad is one battling relegation, it makes little difference. Age & potential isn't going to help on Saturday, Lascelles is only marginally more mobile by the looks of it too (which you would think would come with a young age).

At this moment in time, I just don't see Lascelles as a meaningful upgrade 3rd choice CB.

Get another CB in, a proper man and defender. Colo 3rd choice. Send Lascelles on loan in the Champo. That would be ideal.

I think Lascelles has done his time in the Championship, the club must consider him ready for our bench. Obvs we need a senior defender still.

He wasn't a proper regular for Forrest. I don't think he's established as a top performer in that league at all.

Darlow played pretty much every game I saw of Forrest last year (maybe a 6/7). Lascelles only started in a handful.

I'm willing to see how Lascelles does in place of Colo, next to Mbemba, tbh. Surely he's played enough FIFA at the top level and watched enough of our Premiership games to get an idea of how the league works . What I'm saying is, can't be worse than Colo or Willo, even though he has looked dogshite in his limited appearances thus far. He's still young, though, an therein lies the folly of hope.

I agree TBH, I was interested to see how it would've gone if Colo had been suspended.
