Mike Williamson (now unemployed)

Bramble was capable of having a MOTM performance against any striker. Didn't he mark Drogba out of the game in the 0-0 at SJP under Roeder? He had lapses of concentration, but he could be quality. You can't really say Williamson can be quality.

Aye he did, he also absolutely fucking dropped Michael Ballack in a tackle near halfway and in the same movement hit the ball out for a goal kick, as I was saying earlier.

Bramble had the potential to be a very good defender but the fact he was borderline retarded stopped him fulfilling it.

Williamson clearly only ever had the potential to be an average CB and that's what he is.

Because of the above, Williamson makes less blatant clangers than Bramble but he is probably at fault for more goals we concede because of poor positioning, poor judgement, lack of strength, lack of pace etc.

At least Bramble had the ability to put in a match-winning/saving performance, even if he rarely did it. You cannot say the same about Williamson.

I'll be just as happy when he leaves as I was when Bramble went.

Pardew absolutely love Willo, because he is a stats man.

Pard feels he needs at least one very taller defender in the back four and that is usually Willo as Saylor is always injured.  Hence the constant poorly contrived set-plays, floating ball to Willo's head.

So predictable Pardew is.

Good post. When Williamson leaves I'll be a lot happier, though, because it'll probably mean ambition has come from somewhere.
