adam1
Even if we could change the shirt no, i dont think the club would change it due to the amound of BEN ARFA 37 shirts sold.

I did say I'd like Hatem to have the number 10- but I quite like 37 as well.

WarrenBartonCentrePartin
We've already allocated HBA a shirt no.,sure you can't change halfway through a season. You can during the transfer window you cannat man.
Guest Tall Striker
He's been s****, but still would have kept him til the end of the season... wonder if HBA is expected back sooner than we thought? People keep mentioning Ben Arfa. Personally I think it'll be ages before we see him. Stoke away at the earliest I reckon. He's not even back in light training, and it'll take at least 6 weeks from then.

geordiemonster
You'd have to think we had someone coming in before allowing him to go because we are not exactly the squad with the most depth in the premier league. Then again this is Newcastle under Mike Ashley.

quayside
Based on AP's pronouncements this window if there is a replacement the odds are it will be a player who first and foremost can cross a ball accurately.
midds
I like Routledge and can't fault his attitude this season as he's generally had a good go. Unfortunately, he hasn't delivered consistently and looks far too lightweight in this league. If he goes then fair enough IF he's replaced by someone who can contribute and chip in with a few assists and goals. Barton's making the position his own at the minute though and he's not going to get a look in unless he's out or suspended as Pardew's XI for the derby proved. If he couldn't get in at the expense of Smith he's not going to. He's essentially served his purpose by rubber-stamping our promotion when he arrived. It was money well spent in that respect but it may be time to give him a painting of a Spitfire and let him go. Slaps on the back and handshakes all round, cheers for everything Wayne, best of luck and see you next year.

sugoinufc
can´t see the point in a loan....we should look for a sale.....and buy someone better for the RW! then we also have the option of moving barton into the middle if needed. smith and guthrie are not good enough to start in the cm positon.....tiote, gosling (i would presume, havent see him that much) and barton is! Guest Wally_McFool
Newcastle were linked with Andre Ayew of Marseille last September. Wouldn't be surprised if he comes in for Routledge.

Heron
Is Gosling not a RM? When Ben Arfa comes back too we will have an awesome midfield imo. Would lack depth though...
TRon
Radio Newcastle say the move will be permanent if QPR get promoted. That makes sense tbh. He'll do for them what he did for us and it works out decent value all round. He's a waste of a shirt in the premier but he's worth the fee for a side looking for promotion. TRon
He's a "waste of a shirt" in the PL but making the move permanent if they're promoted makes sense? If it gets them promoted obviously. The move will have paid for itself and then they can sell him to another Championship side once they're up on the same condition like we did. Hardly rocket science is it? JH
Or he could just help them get promoted and then they can send him back. No financial commitment beyond the summer, which is ideal if he's as shit in the PL as everyone seems to say he is.
