Ranger deserves his chance a million times over before Best does.

 

Some of the defence he gets is laughable imo (and from people who will happily say that we should give Xisco away). "He had a header saved against Bristol City and nearly scored against relegated Plymouth", fuck me, surprised we're not beating offers away left, right and centre in that case. Nothing against the bloke at all but he's a CCC/League One player. Hadn't even scored for three months when we bought him, never mind after.

 

We bought him as a short term CCC goals guarantee because we desperately needed a striker and he looked like Alan Smith. If Carroll and Lovenkrands hadn't stepped up to the plate and we'd actually had to rely on Best for the goals he was bought for, we might well have missed out on promotion.

 

How anyone can say he's better than Shola is absolutely beyond me. Shola had nearly a 1:1 ratio in the Championship, you could have blindfolded him and he'd still have scored more than Best.

As opposed to Shola and Lovenkrands, who've proved over a decade that they're not good enough for this level of football.

 

Lovenkrands has only played half a season in the Premier League tbf.

Agreed, I hate watching Stroller but I'd put money on him out-scoring Best.

Leon Best's career stats are 45 goals in 171 starts, the majority in League One and below, but because he's not played in the Premier League, we should assume he might be better than established strikers with a far superior record at higher levels?

 

Should I take my boots to the West Midlands in the morning? I've got a canny record at Westgate Road Centre for Sport and Shola's obviously shit so yeah, why not?  :idiot2:

Honestly don't think Best has any sort of magic within his soul.

 

By magic you mean sprinting once every 5 games?

 

Nowt better than a Shola in full stride.

It was quite funny listening to Ray Houghton absolutely slate Leon Best at every available opportunity,

 

Thought Best did pretty well for a guy who'd obviously never been involved in a game of football before.

 

Considering he's a championship striker up against Champion league defenders...

 

Doesn't excuse clearly not being familiar with the offside rule.

 

That said, I see no real harm in giving him a chance at some point. We've been effectively playing with ten men the last few games with how rubbish Shola and Lovenkrands have been.

 

Best, Ranger or Xisco couldn't be any worse, really.

If this actually went through and this Leeds lad is any good you would have to say Best was a brilliant signing. First he scares Carroll into becoming brilliant then he gets us a talented young attacking midfielder.
