I’ll need to check that out. Weren’t they top of the league under Burley at one point and he sacked him?

I remember going to watch them in the away end at Livi with Burley in charge. Vlad was in the crowd and Hearts had 3 of the stands. Not sure how far it was into the run but they won 4-0

I don’t mind him. Just a bit drab and inoffensive. It’s Taylor and Caulkin I can’t stand. They are absolutely dreadful.

I notice that Taylor now includes his son on the podcast. As he eats a pie. I’m sure he’s a canny lad and everything but fuck off with that, eh?

Been binging the Upshot, and that’s a cracker

Fucking hell, listening to the athletic podcast about Villa loaning rashford as this bellend who's name escapes me spouts absolutely shit.

According to him we shouldn't complain about psr because "we've all got enough money" aye absolutely no differences between what we can spend compared to city. He also said in the context of world football. What sort of fucking idiot uses world football as the context the issue relates specifically to the ENGLISH premier league.

As you can tell, this cunt has got me going

Was worried it might be Rory Smith based on what you were describing. He's absolutely brilliant, the best voice in the podcast game, but his takes on PSR are miles off and - yeah - who he supports really comes through on that particular topic.

I don't follow him so truly don't know much about him but from what he was saying, the sheer brain-deadness of it told me it must be a blindspot of his.

Oh yeah. He is always on MNF. Really good listen and a top journo, if a bit of a pretentious fuck at times. The only time I like Chris Sutton is his grumpy old man routine with him

But yeah. His passive aggressive digs at NUFC, PSR and the ownership always feels well off. Like he goes from being really reasonable and impartial to a fan engagement account.

Yorkie and Vlad? Is he ever challenged on his opinion regarding psr? Would love to hear his in depth arguement before dismissing him as a twat.

Only ever heard him on Monday Night Club on 5 Live. He tends to be the only journo on there. So the counter argument often comes from the likes of Chris Sutton  or another ex-pro. I.e not a lot coming back.

I don’t mind Mark Chapman as a host, you know. He’ll often pull them up on stuff and get them to elaborate. You often get more resistance from him than the other so called experts.

I only heard him mention it the once so it's a shame he's peddling it.

Him and Chris Sutton is the most jarring combo ever. The latter is just another 'pundit' playing a character.

Listening to The Monday Night Club. Mark Chapman really seems to have a soft spot for us, doesn’t he?

Maybe he is just fair and balanced Ange™️) for all clubs. But he’s always great on 5 Live and Sky, I think.

Rory Smith sort of praised us through gritted teeth. Good journo. Bit of a smug prick the more I listen to him. Michael Brown and Chris Sutton of all people seemed genuinely happy for us

Sutton did an excellent article on Joelintons performance in the Mail on Monday.

In times gone by Rory Smith has always had a lot of time for Newcastle, I think, and has generally had some fondness for us (and Leeds) as one club cities. Changed a bit with our impending surge towards cup wins etc.

The smug thing is an epidemic on the mainstream podcast circuit. They've all got it; at one end of the spectrum there's the Guardian one (i.e. the worst of the worst; Liew/Ronay/etc), all the Athletic ones, and then stuff like MNC which I find isn't too bad (Sutton's just a bit of a contrary div).

The smugness is why I wrapped in pretty much all of what I used to listen to, I'm not a fan of the "bantz" ones either which doesn't leave much else sadly!

New, presumably 'more thoughtful' football podcast just started. First ep is about our cup win + sportswashing starring Delaney, Liew and Ronay - so don't all rush at once to give that a listen. Second is Rory Smith and Jonathan Wilson on Tuchel.

What is the collective term for a group of pricks?

Delaney is such a massive cunt man.

It's hugely important that Sportswashing and state ownership gets coverage, but he does it in such a pompous, sneering way that always in some way blames fans. All while being happy to accept the blood money he condones.

I think cheesegrating my helmet would be preferable to listening to that trifecta of sanctimonious fuckwits.

It appears the person spouting was Rory Smith. I googled who he supports and it's Liverpool.

It all makes sense suddenly.

Aye he outed himself after he moved to the Athletic as a kopite after saying for years he wouldn’t.

As an aside I doubt I’d ever tire of watching Barney Ronay get volleyed in the balls.

I have been really enjoying the soccer a-z podcast, brings back a lot memories from when I was kid watching the soccer am tv show on Sky. Lovejoy this week made comment about loudest football stands in the 80’s & said that the kop, stretford end ,holt end were great but the gallowgate end was crap. @31:55

I wasn’t around back then & I am interested get some opinions from fans who went to home games back in the day.  Is lovejoy talking out of his backside or is true.
