It's the problem Sunderland will always have, the place is a shithole and no one is going to stay there if they can get out. “Now I can hopefully get away from the problems I was having at Arsenal and I’m looking forward to having a lot of playing time at Sunderland.

 

“This is the way I can kick-start my career again because I have not played much since the World Cup.

 

“I see it as a way to get back on and kick-start my career. I’ve been out for more than 18 months after my car accident and was not really given a fair chance to come back at Arsenal, where I spent most of the time on the bench.

 

“I will, of course, have to prove my worth to get into the team, but it is a starting place at Sunderland that attracted me.”

 

It was a nervy conclusion to the transfer window for Bendtner with the deal going through just 10 minutes before the 11pm deadline, while the striker was away on international duty.

 

Despite talk of moves to QPR and Stoke, Sunderland are thought to have been the only club to emerge with a concrete offer for the Copenhagen-born hitman on deadline day.

He didn't have to go anywhere, he could very easily have stopped at Arsenal and picked up his 50k a week for the remaining 3 years of his contract, maybe he wanted to come. Just a thought like.

No need to slay the kid, this is a pointless argument. You can't tell if someone's happy at a club by what they tell newspapers, especially when they first sign. Good signing, credit to Sunderland for getting it 'over the line'. Will be interesting to see if they can turn it around, personally, I think they'll do their typical.... run of awful results, run of really good results. Alternating between the two all season. That is unless this start of awful results goes on for much longer, if so they're in the shit.
