Always annoys me how these awards are for "Player of the Year", when the season has blatantly taken place in two seperate years.

This is one of the pettiest things I've ever heard.

12 months is still a year, no matter what month it begins from.

How is the season 12 months. If the season was twelve months long, it would go on continuously from now until the rapture. The season is 9-10 months long, and anyone who refers to this as a year is a foolish person. The name should be changed.

Ridiculous that Luka Modric isn't in the Young Player's list, when you consider he was 23 at the start of the season.

As an aside, I think Milner will be bought by Man U this summer for 20 million pounds, be a massive flop there, and be sold back to a midtable side where he will flourish. That is his career plan.

People said similar things about Carrick, and to be fair he has more than held his own and has enhanced his reputation since leaving the Spuds.

Carrick was successful up until this season, definitely. Milner is not as good a passer as Carrick though. I don't think Milner has the class to succeed in the centre of midfield at the highest level, or the pace, explosiveness, and trickery to help Man U on the wings. I think Villa under O'Neill is a brilliant fit for his talents.

Since when has year and season not been interchangeable? It's so petty, obviously they're different, but everyone knows what they're talking about.

Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle)

The Argentine international has been a mainstay of Newcastle’s defence this season as the Magpies, under the expert leadership of Chris Hughton, have secured an immediate return to the Premier League. His class has shone through in the Championship this season.

Jose Enrique Diaz (Newcastle)

After starting his career in Spain with Levante, Enrique had spells with Valencia, Celta Vigo and Villareal before joining Newcastle in the summer of 2007. Enrique scored his first goal for the Magpies in a 2-0 league win over promotion rivals Nottingham Forest on March 29.

Kevin Nolan (Newcastle)

The Newcastle skipper has led from the front this season and, after the disappointment of relegation from the Premier League, has inspired his side from the off. The Magpies have bounced back at the first attempt – thanks in no small part to Kevin’s double-figure goal tally.

Andy Carroll (Newcastle)

Andy has been challenged to earn the right to become Newcastle’s next official owner of the famous number nine shirt, and he has certainly made a strong claim, using his aerial power and physical presence to out-muscle defenders and help himself to a bundle of goals.

AND

Michael Chopra (Cardiff)

Michael was in danger of becoming labelled something of a loan ranger after a succession of spells on the road at such clubs as Watford, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Cardiff where he has now settled and is producing the best, most consistent form of his career.

Milner on Rooney a few years back

Aston Villa midfielder James Milner admits he's been crossing swords with Manchester United star Wayne Rooney since he was ten years old!

Milner recalls facing Rooney with Leeds U11s while the United star was an Everton junior.

He told the Sunday Times: “I was 10, we had a very good team and went unbeaten for a year. But he stood out. He had the ability but he was very physical as well. We heard he did boxing as well and he was so much stronger than everyone else. He bullied us around the field and then outplayed us with his ability.

"We were talking about him in the dressing room afterwards. A year or two later he disappeared, and we used to wonder whatever happened to him. We didn’t realise that while we had graduated to the under-13s, he was playing for Everton’s under-17s.”

Is that all they could say about Enrique? :(
