themanupstairs
I hope we don't go for Larsson. There's nothing he can bring to this squad. Even just as a body. If we should sign him, it should be an after-thought, rather than one of the first we go for.

If we do sign him, he can cut that shit out.

He's a big step up from Guthrie, give him Guthrie's wages, flog Guthrie to a promoted / championship team and Mike can even keep the couple of million transfer revenue for all I care. Essentially a cheaper Joey Barton without the history and the injuries, I could live with a team of JB's.
sugoinufc
i might be wrong but isn´t gosling and larsson kind of similar types. maybe even guthrie too one similarity they share is: no pace!
ponsaelius
Apart from the awesome name that Martin sounds like somebody we could use in midfield.

Unless we could get Seb Larsson on cheap wages, which I don't think he'd come for, I'd rather chance Lua Lua as cover out wide right next season. tomlkier
http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/thefrenchconnection/archive/2011/03/10/marvellous-marvin-martin.aspx Sounds like a great player, it's good news that we are being linked with these sort of prospects. He was at the heart of everything that Brum did today, considering the lack of a fee I would have absolutely no problem with us giving him 30k a week for the next 5 years. Wil
Find it difficult to imagine Barton (if he stays) and Nolan not being selected in our midfield, along with Tiote when they're all available. Larsson will know they are big players at the club and will be difficult to shift. He's used to starting, and that might be a problem with any established midfielder who we might see as adding quality to the squad. But if he fancies it, I'd admire him for that and welcome him. True, might give Sunderland/Bolton the edge over us.

Pilko
If we ever get Marvin Martin and there's any sort of training/matchday photo where he looks even remotely pissed off, you can bet almost everyone will be posting "ooh this makes me very angry, very angry indeed!" If Larsson comes in, he really should displace Nolan (of current form and fitness) in our team with little problem if the management have any sense..... So he wont
Pilko
Moving to 'the next level' would see Nolan phased out, not 'dropped' or sold.
Guest mimifrench
Martin is a very good player !(he played in my town when he was a kid ). He made 15 "decisive cross"/assists with Sochaux this year. But i don't think he will leave sochaux next year... or if he does, he'll go to a top french club
