Auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga: Tottenham, Newcastle want me

auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga has revealed the interest of Tottenham and Newcastle United.

 

The 23 year-old DR Congo international attracted enquiries from several European clubs during the summer market, but favours staying in France at this stage in his career.

 

"Several foreign clubs were interested: Newcastle, Tottenham, Napoli, Genoa and Sevilla. But I'm still not ready to play abroad.

 

"For me, I must first go through a big French club like Lyon or Marseille," said Ndinga.

Auxerre star rejected Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur offers 09/9/2011

Auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga has claimed that he rejected advances from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to stay in Ligue 1.

 

Ndinga, 23, is a Congo international and while there was reported interest from Newcastle and Spurs, his club Auxerre were also apparently keen on a deal.

 

However, the Ndinga said: “I preferred to stay in Ligue 1 for this season.

 

“I had contact with many foreign clubs like Tottenham, Newcastle and Sevilla and they requested information about me.

 

“Some made offers but we decided to stop the subject for a year. First I want to prove my worth in the French league.”

 

Ndinga has played in all four of Auxurre’s league matches so far this season.

If we were to sign him on top of the other things we need then I'm all for it, but I just get the feeling we'll be conducting a very limited number of incomings if any in January, so I'd rather they were the positions we were really short on.

 

Get the impression that he would be fairly cheap.  Sure the club would factor everything in and not sign him at the expense of strengthening other areas that are needed.

Newcastle United have sent chief scout Graham Carr to France to watch Marvin Martin, according to reports.

 

The Sunday Sun claimed the player has come to the attention of Toon boss Alan Pardew, who dispatched his top man to watch the 23-year-old French international in Ligue 1 action.

 

Regarded as the jewel in the crown at Sochaux, Martin has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, with Arsene Wenger a known admirer of the five-cap international.

 

Martin burst onto the scene at the Stade Auguste Bonal in 2008, and helped guide the club to Europe with a fifth place finish domestically last term. They were eliminated in the qualifying round of the Europa League.

 

Wenger has a track record of bringing young French players to the Emirates, and was reported to have sent Arsenal scouts to watch the midfielder last term ahead of a possible summer move.

 

 

However, a Gunners move failed to materialise, and with Arsenal now appearing to be on the back-foot over a move for the player, Pardew finds him well placed in the race for Martin.

 

A plethora of Frenchmen at St. James' Park could also be key to Newcastle securing the player's signature, with Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye, Mehdi Abeid, Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan already at the club.

 

Nicknamed 'little Xavi' by his teammates, it's claimed Martin has an agreement with Sochaux that he can leave if a bid meets their valuation next summer, and his signature would be a coup for Newcastle if they won the race for Martin's services.

NEWCASTLE United’s talent spotters are keeping tabs on exciting French teenager M’Baye Niang.

 

The Chronicle understands that the promising starlet – who is the youngest ever player to star for Ligue 1 side Caen – is also attracting the attention of Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal.

 

However, Newcastle are starting to get a reputation as a club that is prepared to give youngsters a regular chance in the first team, a factor that could work in the Magpies’ favour.

 

Niang, an attacking midfielder who is still just 16, has made six appearances for Caen this term and netted one goal so far, to go with his seven appearances and three goals last season.

 

United’s transfer tactics have resulted in the success story that is Mehdi Abeid – who arrived from Racing Club Lens last season on trial before making the move permanent – and has flourished into a player of some promise, starring in the 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest last month.

 

And 19-year-old Yven Moyo is also making steady progress in the reserves.

 

Newcastle are keeping a close eye on the French market, which offers better value than some of the other leagues in Europe.

 

United are set to stick with their policy of unearthing youngsters from the Continent, and their work on the scouting front has been ongoing since the transfer window shut.

And the 21-year-old has been identified as one of a handful of Continental stars capable of hitting the ground running in the Premier League.

At 6ft 2ins and with a goal record of nearly one every other game, he is under consideration after catching the eye of Toon scouts last season. He fits United’s profile of being under 24 although Twente would be looking for big money for their rising star.

Spurs join Newcastle in bid to sign Blackburn's rising star Junior Hoilett

 

Spurs are reportedly planning a raid for Blackburn's rising star Junior Hoilett, who has already attracted interest from Newcastle.

 

The 21-year-old ace is in the final year of his contract and appears reluctant to agree an extension.

 

Newcastle made strides to sign Canada-born Hoilett in the summer but Steve Kean managed to persuade the player's father and agent that Ewood Park was the best place for him.

 

Blackburn's start to the season has been woeful so far, winning just one game out of seven, and Hoilett could well look to move to guarantee his place in the Premier League next season.

 

Spurs are chasing a top-four finish this season and realise an exciting signing in January could give their chances of Champions League football a much needed rocket boost.

 

Hoilett, who can play on either wing, began to come of age last season, gaining plenty of praise from Blackburn manager Steve Kean.
