Guest bimpy474
If we were gonna go for any of the free agent forwards, I'd prefer James McFadden, though I'm not sure if he's really an upgrade on any of our current first team forwards. But at least he's 28 compared to Beattie, whos 33 now. I'd rather we used Sammy or Haris, any player brought in now just blocks their path, seeing as if fit it'll be Best, Ameobi, Ba as the target man, much rather see Ben Arfa, Sammy (use him left and put Jonas off the front man) or Haris as the player buzzing around them. Lovenhands ignored obviously as he is lovelypants now.
Si
Completely agree that we should be trying to give Sammy and others games rather than bring in a journeyman.
Cajun
McFadden had a spell of being pretty good not that far back. Wouldn't happen but if we could sign him saying "look, you don't look to have many options so at least you can earn *Insert low wage here* and will be an extreme emergency back up but It's better than nothing" it might be worth a chance. I reckon he would be a better option than Loven who has already had too many chances this season. Would play Sammy and Vuckic ahead of him mind, McFadden can play a few positions too can't he? Skeletor
In terms of numbers we really don't need another striker. It's just quality we lack and therefore there's no point even looking at the free transfer market.

BONTEMPI
I'd rather give the chance to Sammi our faithful enthusiastic labrador.
JH
This is not to say we should enter the free transfer market (because I don't think we should) but those saying we should give Sammy a go should remember that he's currently behind Ba, HBA, Ameobi, Best, Lovenkrands and probably Vuckic. Next to little chance we'll see him with eveyone fit
Pilko
At the minute though, he's behind Ba, Best and Lovenkrands, because the others on that list are injured. When/if we sign a striker, and those players return to fitness, Sammy could do with a loan somewhere.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Carroll was behind Owen, Martins, Viduka and Ameobi. It was good fortune for us that Carroll rose to the challenge in the Championship. It's annoying that we didn't sign another new striker but hopefully Sami or Vučkić will 'do a Carroll' for us this season. Hopefully Ba and Best will do well too! Doctor Zaius
Lovenkrands is a better option than McFadden man. He made 4 apps last season. Lovenkrands scored 6 goals, Mcfaddens only ever scored 6 leaguesgoals once in his entire career. He's wank. Rather see Sammy or dare I say it even Ranger play. Pilko
Lovenkrands is a decent option against the bottom 6 sides in the league; same goes for Guthrie. Play him against any other team, however, (such as Fulham!) and he's anonymous 9 times out of 10.

Revolution Number 9
Another midfielder, no ta. How very odd. Other positions I'd rather we focused on, central midfield seems to be one of the few positions where we have reasonable depth. Assuming he's a central midfielder of course. Ishmael
Nah, we shouldn't just turn our back on good young midfielders just because we are weaker in other positions.
Revolution Number 9
If we were to sign him on top of the other things we need then I'm all for it, but I just get the feeling we'll be conducting a very limited number of incomings if any in January, so I'd rather they were the positions we were really short on. The 23 year-old DR Congo international attracted enquiries from several European clubs during the summer market, but favours staying in France at this stage in his career. "Several foreign clubs were interested: Newcastle, Tottenham, Napoli, Genoa and Sevilla. But I'm still not ready to play abroad. "For me, I must first go through a big French club like Lyon or Marseille," said Ndinga. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/auxerre-midfielder-delvin-ndinga-tottenham-newcastle-want-me-1867921 Auxerre star rejected Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur offers 09/9/2011 Auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga has claimed that he rejected advances from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to stay in Ligue 1. Ndinga, 23, is a Congo international and while there was reported interest from Newcastle and Spurs, his club Auxerre were also apparently keen on a deal. However, the Ndinga said: “I preferred to stay in Ligue 1 for this season. “I had contact with many foreign clubs like Tottenham, Newcastle and Sevilla and they requested information about me. “Some made offers but we decided to stop the subject for a year. First I want to prove my worth in the French league.” Ndinga has played in all four of Auxurre’s league matches so far this season. http://www.cleansheetsallround.co.uk/2011/09/auxerre-star-rejected-newcastle-united-tottenham-hotspur-offers

Get the impression that he would be fairly cheap. Sure the club would factor everything in and not sign him at the expense of strengthening other areas that are needed.
