Some help please - can someone answer this hypothetical, please:

You’ve had £10 e/w on Sergio Garcia at 20/1 in the

Masters and he finishes in a tie for 5h place. The e/w terms

are ¼ 1,2,3,4,5. What would be your return?

Cheers anyone who understands each-way betting. I have never come across it/used it.

Beren, my understanding is that you win back one quarter of the original odds plus your stake.

20/4 = 5/1

£10 stake

£60 return.

£10 e/w as in a £20 total or £10 total?

Either way;

I imagine most bookies would pay out for a tie, never had one myself though so some might just void it. More than likely you'd be paid out in full though.

£10 total/£5 stake:

For placing - £5 * (20/4) = £25 profit + £5 stake returned

For winning - £5 * 20 = £100 profit + £5 stake returned

£20 total/£10 stake:

For placing - £10 * (20/4) = £50 profit + £10 stake returned

For winning - £10 * 20 = £200 profit + £10 stake returned

Hope that explains it
