Where should it be mentioned  that they've beaten us 3-1 in a behind closed doors friendly?

Dan Gosling scored for Newcastle United yesterday as they went down 3-1 to Liverpool in a closed doors game.

Both sides fielded strong teams in the match, despite the international fixtures depriving them of many big name stars.

Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita, Gabriel Obertan and Tim Krul played for Newcastle in their defeat at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.

Coutinho, Daniel Agger, and Jordan Henderson all featured for Brendan Rodgers side, as did former Toon star Jose Enrique. Two penalties from Daniel Sturridge and a Luis Alberto strike gave the Reds a deserved win.

Gosling’s goal was set up by Adam Campbell who took to Twitter to celebrate his “first assist for the seniors.”

No spectators were allowed to watch the 90 minutes.

  • 3 weeks later...

as much as we don't want it, liverpool are going to be decent under rodgers like...they got the right bloke at the right time

fuckers

parky's time is over imo

Said it in this thread when he was appointed, just based on he plays the game the right way, and if he's backed to buy quality players then it's a formula for success. They will be real CL contenders this year.

question mark with him was the lack of cutting edge at swansea, i.e. was it because he didn't have the players or was it because his style was just keepball...appears to be the former, he's also developing as a manager...can you fucking imagine that?

It's interesting that both today, and against Villa, Rodgers totally changed team's tactics at half-time. Going to preserve the lead, as opposed to try to increase it. Risky, but has worked so far.

A bit concerned about the fact that we didn't create much, but was very impressed with our pressing.

Really looking forward to see how Sakho fits in and who the 2 starting CBs will be once he's ready.

I think you'll see rotation and there won't be 2 starters as such.
