When you're 2-1 up with a minute left and struggling to hang onto possession, the obvious thing to do is to play a speculative attacking pass to an offside striker.

Can't win because if he'd tried it and it hadn't came off or Ba had been called offside then the argument we'd be having now would be about how he didn't use his footballing brain to retain possession or that he'd ignored Pardew's direct instructions or some s***.

Can't understand what people get out of this pointless wummery. This kind of nonsense doesn't exist in the real world I'm sure.

I think Wullie kidding:)

there was always the same who seek to show that Ben Arfa is not a good player. but all their explanations have proved useless, so now we look for explanations even stranger:)

It looks like it and it was another 3 seconds before Ba was finally onside and McFadden had got back at Ben Arfa who then had 2 defenders around him.

Just one touch needed and a simple chip over in to space, I'm pretty sure Ba backed off a little too leaving any ball dropped over his right hand side plenty of space for him to run in to.

OK then, here's one touch later.

Where's the simple chip into space?

Only two counter attackers against six defenders  :undecided:

The man behind HBA and his opponent seems to have miss the train.

Two ways this thread can go -

1. Oak Tree and Baggio are proved right, Ben Arfa fails, chins Pardew, gets sold to The Scum for £40 worth of Casino Chips. Oak Tree and Baggio reign supreme on N-O for the rest of time and we never question them again or

2. Ben Arfa gets some games under his belt over the course of the next 3 months, gets a bit sharper and becomes the good player we all know he is and want to be. We get to so a big group 'FUCK YOU' to Oak Tree and his opinions in future are forever mocked.

Don't forget the third way!

You read my posts correctly and see I have never said he will fail.

Having re-read these posts you realise that describing his Everton appearance as Average is not a crime akin to drowning kittens.

Even tonight, John Anderson is making the same sort of comments about HBA on Total Sport. Perhaps the BBC should sack him?

I repeat, I have not said He's shit or hoped that he fails. I do hope he plays a blinder and scores a hat-trick in the next game.

:)

John Anderson is another thick plank who you would expect to make exactly those sort of comments. If it was up to the likes of well meaning plebs we'd have kicked Coloccini out of the club within 12 months and given Nolan a new 5 year contract at the first time of asking last year.

If there's one thing you shouldn't doubt about Ben Arfa, it's his footballing intelligence.

And if there is one thing you should doubt its Baggios footballing intelligence.

Come and tell me about it when you go to games. O0

Why is that so important? Does every cretin with a season ticket automatically have a better understanding of the game because he's sat looking at it at the ground?

Yes, he has a better off sides appreciation.

Aye leave it alone. The guy clearly wanted to act like a prick, was just the wrong moment.

While I thought he did well in his cameo, Baggio has a point in that passage of play.

At this point, if he plays it forward with his preferred left foot in the space behind Distin, Ba is almost certain to get there first (he already has his speed up, and as we see in the following frames, goes past Distin).

Not that I really see the point in nitpicking in one passage of play, we won, and Ben Arfa made a decent cameo.

I think it's a bit more difficult than some believe and it's not at all the kind of time in a game to try. Keep the ball were his instructions and rightfully so.

Its also on 89 minutes, he may have made the decsion to run the line with his dribbling ability to run the clock down, he may have also been told this from the touch line.

Everyone needs to stop being gay on this thread and just wait and see.

I personally think he will come good for us, he just needs a bit of time.

Also people on here should be allowed to question his ability without being dragged into fanboy arguments.
