Skeletor
Pardew doesn't lie. There's something wrong, at least, with him. I don't know him very well tbh, you surely know him better than me and know what he did with his previous clubs/teams and players. Every time I watch an interview of him or whatever, he seems to have that "false" smile in his face that leads me to feel he's lying or hiding something... He used to have sex with player's girlfriends at Southampton. He also kept Tevez and Mascherano on the bench for West Ham. http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/50361000/jpg/_50361002_pardew.jpg

If so, Ben arfa surely refused to let him to be with his girlfriend... Didn't think of that assumption. It's clearer now...
Cajun
Pardew's playing it clever, he knows we sell anyone half decent so if he never plays Ben Arfa we will never sell

Fenham Mag
Ben Arfa gets warning from Newcastle boss Published 22:30 19/12/11 By Simon Bird Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa has been ordered to raise his game by boss Alan Pardew. The Toon manager has denied there is any “rift or problems” with the winger. But the £5million France international has failed to win a first team spot recently and even saw 19-year-old Haris Vuckic called off the subs' bench before him at the weekend. Ben Arfa is known to be a tough character to deal with and Newcastle have made their dressing-room team spirit a strength this season. But Pardew insists Ben Arfa’s omission is down to his “stats”, and reckons he needs his entire squad at “full tilt” to pick him. Newcastle look defensively more vulnerable with Ben Arfa in the side and concentrating on attack. He is also coming back from his double leg break last season. Pardew explained: “I know there have been suggestions, rumours, that he isn’t happy here, but it’s just not true. “He’s fine, I think he knows he’s not at his best yet and the stats in the game he has played, I would expect better from him because of what a good player he is. “He just needs to come up a level. "It’s not about his relationship with the other players, you’re looking too deeply into this, he’s just a player who needs more time. “I think he will find his best form before the end of the season but how quickly that is I don’t know. I’ll use him as I see fit, I didn’t use him on Saturday because I didn’t think the situation was right. It’s as simple as that. “He’s an individual character in terms of his personality on the pitch, but in terms of that we still have situations where we need to be at full tilt to put him in the team and we’re not quite there at the moment. “We were a lot better Saturday and the chances of him being involved on Wednesday against West Brom are a lot higher because of how strong we looked defensively against Swansea. We looked like our old selves. “Of course, it didn’t help we had defensive injuries, because that has affected Hatem as well. "To lose your three first choice centre-halves for the Norwich game hurts, because Hatem is the type of player you need a strong base to bring out the best in him and to protect ourselves. "Saturday was the first time since Manchester United that we looked like a solid team. “He is just lacking that bit of sharpness. I don’t think it is a case of accommodating him. We look different when he is in the side and it needs to turn into a positive for us which I think it can do. “Fingers crossed for Hatem that happens for him and us because if we can get him back to his very best we have an exceptional player.” The lack of progress in tying down skipper Fabricio Coloccini on a new long-term deal has been a concern, but Pardew says he wants it sorted out by the end of the winter transfer window. The Argentine is a crucial figure on and off the pitch, and has even been offered a lucrative contract despite his cuurent age, 29, meaning he will have little resale value when it expires. Coloccini has 18 months left on his current contract and the fear is United could cash in if a £10million bid was tabled, although United’s moneymen say they are not looking to sell. Pardew has has made signing a centre-half his No1 priority for January, and watched FC Twente defender Douglas Franco Teixeira at the weekend. On Coloccini's contract, the Newcastle boss said: “We’ve not been told no [he doesn’t want to sign it]. We hope by the time the transfer window ends that situation will have been resolved.” Pardew has also killed off hopes of a return to Newcastle for Liverpool’s out of favour striker Andy Carroll, who moved from the Toon to Anfield last January for £35m. A swap deal has been rumoured on Merseyside, but Pardew said: “There has been no dialogue at boardroom level or managerial level between us and Liverpool.”

AlanSkÃrare
That back page from the Echo is so fucking terrible, shame on them. Hope he comes on and contributes with an assist or a goal. Will raise his confidence and status with Pardew. We are yet to see him as blistering as he was that day at Goodison, his pace and urgency then was magic, just want to see him against someone else than Manchester United or City, it's hard to prove yourself against those sides after a year out. Guest icemanblue
I can understand what Pardew means about having a solid defensive base in order to get the best from him. I don't think he'll start on Wednesday, with Cabaye missing. Unless we go with Abeid. Makes a lot of sense. However, he's walked right in to a classic journalists trap. The quotes were bound to be given a negative spin, because the press could sense our increasing frustration with him not being involved. Sensible, logical decision making does not make a very good story.

Easy to pass the ball to someone behind you. Cabaye at leas plays his heart out. Obertan is fucking shite. Pisses me off people praising his 1st half. Hes a terrible footballer who relies on his pace.

taxfree
Like Obertan doesn't give it away just as much It's not like he always tracks back either, and when he does, don't put your money on him getting stuck in. Add to that, that he brings next to nothing going forward, Ben Arfa is due his chance. Some silly words from Pardew there. I don't care if Ben Arfa is not up to his best. As I said, he's due his chance, and he needs to play to get back to his best.
Cajun
I like Sammy a lot but his hard work is miles and miles apart from say Jonas. Sammy will run around a lot but sometimes that isn't a good thing (I fully appreciate you know this).
Dave
I read the bit about 'stats' as probably referring to his distance covered during time on the pitch.

Jayson
Good to hear Pardews thinking on the matter a bit there, interesting that he mentions stats. Perhaps it is a case of us needing him to keep the ball more, quite a few of things he tries while impressive does end up with us all saying "his team mates just arent on the same wavelength yet". Which either way just means he lost us possession. Still...im a bit baffled still by this wing situation. Theres no way he doesnt deserve a chance over Obertan at this point, he has been trying to track back. He gave a penalty away doing it against man city so i reckon he'd give it a go. I like the way Ben Arfa plays but I can understand why he would be a concern for a manager. He has an amazing amount of natural ability and I like players who always look to attack but he is one of those players who will run into a defender 9 times in the hope that the 10th time something will come off. Not always a bad thing but as said I can understand why Pardew has concerns, especially with a patched up defence.
Disco
I read the bit about 'stats' as probably referring to his distance covered during time on the pitch. If that's a case why does Pardew want to play him number 10 role? A role renowned for it's lack of defensive application by almost everyone that has ever played it and it's not like a player like HBA is going to go aye, better run around like a blue arsed fly to make up for my lack of ability. Hopefully it's more to do with keeping the ball but if we're only looking at stats and not the bigger picture it's a bit worrying IMO.
