loki679
Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has apologised to the club's fans after suffering the worst day of his career against Sunderland on Saturday. "It's going to be tough because Chelsea are a good, good, good, good team. But if we do the right things, we have got a chance to win." I think he's saying Chelsea are a good team. toontownman
Don't make light of his recent stuttering problem. He has only just transferred it from stuttering all over the pitch.
Newcastle Fan
He was horrific against Sunderland, that pass to Altidore just summed up everything that's wrong with him, then again all of our players played to the absolute worse they can. Dr.Spaceman
I wouldn't single anybody out from the Sunderland game, we were collectively atrocious.
mrmojorisin75
tiote woeful for a very long time in a flat team playing long balls from CB tiote makes slow improvement and starts to look a good player again in team that passes ball around and has some movement tiote looks fucking terrible against sunderland at the weekend it really, really isn't difficult like
The College Dropout
One of him or Ainta (or both) is going to have to attempt longer, more penetrative balls now we don't have Cabaye or anyone capable of playing #10 (Marveaux doesn't count). And it's going to be an ugly sight. That's what made the Perch/Tiote partnership so woeful (the Guthrie/Tiote combo was decent fwiw). Perch passing was even more basic than Tiote's. Someone had to attempt an ambitious ball and Tiote won't hide. However, it will be ugly.

TRon
Not the worst match to miss tbh. The next two games we are more than likely to get beat anyway, so players missing isn't really an issue.

Unbelievable
Not the worst match to miss tbh. Disagree. This is the type of match where Tiote normally does really well at. Without him, our central midfield looks piss poor defensively. We could be looking at a hiding here, whereas with Tiote I would have some hope we could nick it.. If he is fit I would hope we could nick a point.

I know it's defeatist but I don't see us doing anything either way. He's going to be important for the rest of the season so I'd sooner see him miss this and get himself right for the Spurs game. It certainly is defeatist to look at it like that, and I don't think our play away from home merits such a defeatist attitude. I'd sooner miss him at home vs Villa for example than away to Chelsea or Spurs, i.e. where the onus isn't on us to create, but to be solid in defence and counter attack when we can. Our away record has been heavily dependent on having Remy, and to a lesser extent Gouffran in the side. Difficult to see us posing much threat to Chelsea with Shola in there instead of Remy, Tiote or no Tiote.
