The incompetence of our staff, there'll probably be a visa problem taking Tiote to f***ing Scotland.

Mike Ashley's debit card failing when trying to book the Megabus.

Does anyone know what the actual problem is?

Sounds ridiculous, and obviously whoever is managing this tour should be sacked.

Think everyone is quick to blame the club for this but imho Tiote should have made sure to have his own paperwork in order and was he not driving without insurance not so long ago ,its called taking responsibility and footballers are just like us in that respect .

Completely unacceptable situation to put Tiote in.

No way should one of our best, most important players be in Accra training by himself whilst also trying to sort out the fucking mess he's got every right to expect his employers to sort for him. Can't imagine this happening at any other club - at least not one playing at the same level as we are. Fucking thick amateurs.

surely if its with his visa or passport its tiotes responsibility to sort it out, not the clubs?

Wonder who sorted out his visa to pay for us when he signed? :dontknow:

I'm presuming it was us because he became one of our players/employees and we took care of it so he could actually play. His passport would be a different matter, that's Tiote's responsibility but I've not read that this was the problem - it was the visa. The person(s) organising the tour should have sorted all of this stuff out before we even left.

Except that none of us are worth £20m+ to our employers. The club should have an army of staff working for it on peanuts (in footballing terms, what's £25k per annum to the club?) making sure things like this go as smoothly as possible. It's a Premiership club with multi million pound players ffs. You'd think we were running this tour like a PE teacher arranging a foreign trip for his school's A-side to play in some crappy tournament, with his responsibility being limited to getting permission slips from the players' parents and telling his lads to meet at an airport at a set date/time with their passport in hand - any  of the lads who can't get permission or aren't at the airport on time won't get to play. It's pathetic.

both the club and tiote should be aware when his visa is expiring though, its not 100% the clubs fault. that said its all speculation anyway because we dont know what the problem is yet.

Bit of a pointless afterthought, but have to wonder whether those post-relegation sackings by Ashley/Llambias have had any impact here. Didn't the club sack half it's administrative staff or something?

Wonder whether any of them were given their jobs back (or replacements recruited) after promotion too. Not that we have any idea what any of them did or what the situation is like, but given how retail outlets like Sports Direct are run I wouldn't be suprised at all if there's a serious lack of manpower on the administrative side of things at the club.

This is my take on it:

The club identified Tiote as a player they wanted last summer. The invited him over to discuss a contract and become an employee of the club and he agreed to join. I presume they arranged is flight over here, his accommodation while the talks were ongoing, his medical, his registration being transferred to us, his visa, his registration with the tax authorities and so on. I'd also like to think they gave him advice as to where to buy property and so on to help him settle quickly. As far as Tiote is concerned all of the stuff the club sorted out to allow him to play for us should have been done properly. IF it turns out it wasn't done properly then the buck stops with the club and the officials whose job it is to make sure that red tape issues like this don't happen.

We wanted him. We should have bent over backwards to make sure everything was sorted. All imo obviously.

From today's Team News part in the Sunday Sun.

'Cheik Tiote is in Ghana rubber-stamping a permanent visa. This is a 'routine' development after 12 months in the country which was pre-decided by the club at the start of the summer.

Still don't understand.

All we need now is Cabaye to have picked up a knock against Leeds (quite likely given he was chopped down second half) and our supposed 'first choice' central pairing will have played precisely 0 games together going into the new season.

Fucking brilliant.

Better than this time last year anyway where we were going into the season with Barton and Smith as our central midfield pairing. At least this summer Barton and Cabaye will have built up an understanding even if just in training in Holland and I'm sure the way they play means Cabaye and Tiote will gel pretty nicely.
