depends also on the teams you're up against

Spurs began the season as favourites for the Europa

no way they were favourites for the LC, due to the quality of opposition

our road to victory was far more difficult and impressive

makes it a lot sweeter for me even if the Europa is considered more prestigious

The UEFA Cup still sits levels above the League Cup for me.  Of the six trophies it’s possible to win, the League Cup is at the bottom of the pile

For me that was definitely the case in the past, but the League cup has gone up a lot over the last decade (and especially this year with who we faced), while the Europa has declined, particularly this year with the changes.  (Add to that, in terms of the occasion, there’s having 30k plus of our fans at Wembley v half that in Europe.)

Is it typical for Monchi to come down to the touchline? It was mentioned by the commentators at the final whistle (so he got down there sharpish). Just wondering if there is tension there and he was pulling a Greek on Emery or not.

I think the League Cup is harder to win given the competition - but the prestige of the UEFA Cup remains far greater

More likely having a go at the officials no?

I don't think Monchi was anywhere near them (except maybe the fourth). Emery then went by himself and confronted the ref as they were entering the tunnel. Just seems off that the DoF would be down there.

Nah.  It was Hojlund, make him shoot.  Martinez didnt even try and go for the ball.  He could’ve just evaded him and Hojlund wouldn’t have been able to score.

symptomatic of a side bottling it though both the back pass and the crazy decision.

Do you like your new word?

Whilst the Fairs Cup, which was essentially the same completion has been written out of history… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not recognised by UEFA is the problem - though it is recognised by FIFA.  Barcelona are happy to include it in their major honours list - that’ll dee me :)

Ah man. This villa fan comes across as a bit thick. "Id be happy if we kept the current squad" ah yes those borrowed players costing you 500k per week which aren't included in your actually wage to turnover calculations. Im sure you would aye.

How did we qualify for it?

By being the best team in Newcastle! [Only one team per city was allowed so a few teams above us in the league - seems to be Everton, Arenal and Spurs - weren't allowed to take part].

De fault. The two sweetest words in the English language!
