BrettNUFC
I'm all for Shola staying at the club in some aspect though, just not a playing one.
KDT
I'm all for Shola staying at the club in some aspect though, just not a playing one. Cleaner or something. I want him nowhere near the coaching staff, imagine him trying to coach even a 10 year old on how to control a pass.
Ste
Graham Carr must really hate Pardew. Why on earth has he stayed so long scouting talent for a manager who sees the benefit of a new deal for Ameobi.

Boot him. Immediately  Knew you would have some of that.
TaylorJ_01
Jesus Christ, absolutely pathetic. So pathetic even our board are knocking it back. The guy typifies everything that is wrong with NUFC and Pardew wants to reward him for it.
TaylorJ_01
Anyone who wants him here in any role needs their head checked. Yeah he might be a 'good lad' but he's an absolutely horrific footballer and I wouldn't want anyone learning anything at all off him.

Dave
http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/missing-top-ten-target-would-7015396 Pardew is understood to be concerned at a lack of leadership in the squad and had proposed a contract extension for Shola Ameobi, with the possibility of the striker being given a coaching role. TaylorJ_01
I reckon he's just shit scared of him leaving and losing one of his henchmen. Balance of power and all that. Might start a French revolution.

Shays Given Tim Flowers
Should probably give coaching roles to...........coaches. Carver, Stone & Ameobi.
TaylorJ_01
Should probably give coaching roles to...........coaches. Carver, Stone & Ameobi. Absolutely grim. Conference level stuff, that.

loki679
Pardew is just a complete moron. Given a choice of one of Carr's young, hungry, talented strikers or a contract extension for a player who has managed 1 premier league goal in about two years he'd go for the latter. Imagine Carr's face at the transfer summit after he's just run through a detailed breakdown of some of the top striking talent in France and Pardew goes 'Nah, let's give Shola a new contract instead.' Cajun
Not sure how much playing ability impacts coaching ability tbh. Beardsley would be producing shit loads of quality youth players if it played that big a role. Shola comes across as a pretty intelligent lad as well tbf. Mick
http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/missing-top-ten-target-would-7015396 Pardew is understood to be concerned at a lack of leadership in the squad and had proposed a contract extension for Shola Ameobi, with the possibility of the striker being given a coaching role. However, that is understood to have been knocked back, with Newcastle’s hierarchy preferring to refresh the squad in the summer and bring in new talent. That means that even though he is set for an extended run in the team Ameobi’s goal at St James’ Park on Saturday may well be his last in a black-and-white shirt. “It doesn’t mean anything. Ultimately, and this is the way I’ve always seen it, it’s about winning games,” he said after his strike at the weekend. “I don’t care who scores, really. I’ve always been like that, which is probably to my detriment. It’s about winning games. That’s where I get ultimate satisfaction – knowing I’ve helped the team. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened.” You couldn't make that shite up.
Jack Flash
Teg @ToonTeg 1m Just picking up points from Mick Lowes on BBC Newcastle and passing them on. Pardew wanted Shola to stay and move into coaching. Been going on a while it seems.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Look at the positives. If the story is true, Pardew wanted to offer Shola a contract extension but the "Newcastle hierarchy" said no. Remember last Summer Pardew wanted to keep Perch but he was sold.
TaylorJ_01
I dread to think where we'd be if it was all up to Pardew. Gosling and Perch in midfield, Ameobi up top, Willo and Taylor at the back. Not far off it actually
