Well we all love him and he does love the club of that i'm sure, but like a cat that's been mown down by a tractor, while it still clings to life and you want to save it. You can't, take out your killing tool and put it out of it's misery.

That i'm afraid it what needs to happen to old Jonas, he is now a below par Championship level, average plodder.

Pardew doesn't dare withdraw his workrate from the side. Actual fact.

True but Pardew needs to see that a top 6 side needs workrate and quality, i'm afraid old yella has only one.

As much as i hate to say this about one of my own players, sometimes i wish he'd get a little thigh strain or calf pull.

Ashamed to say that but there you go.

He will once Hatem's back. Guarantee it.

Did well today, for me. Right decision to leave him on when we were throwing everyone forward as well. It's not conventional, but its working for now.

If we had a capable cover for Hatem he wouldn't be starting fact is this is our wide options.

Gouffran(Obertan) Ben Arfa(Jonas) you could argue about Marveaux but its painfully obvious Pardew doesn't see him as anything other than a AM.

Once Ben Arfa comes back and we have better depth i highly doubt Jonas will be starting much.

I might be extremely naive but i truly believe the reason he plays is because we have little other choice, you have to realise that our striker and winger options are f*cking dire.

I think you're right, we don't have many other options in wide positions.

As part of a squad I'm happy to have him; his workrate is invaluable in the tougher away games and fixtures against the top 5 or 6 teams. But there's no way he should be playing 90 minutes every single week, it's absolutely ludicrous that he still is.

He didn't do much wrong yesterday, I just don't think he has much to offer against teams who offer as little going forward as Stoke. I still think he has a role to play against better teams with attacking wingers and fullbacks, but he's more or less a wasted player against these kind of teams.

He doesn't hide - and we all know he's going to be dropped soon or later as soon as Hatem is back. But he made some good plays here and there yesterday.

 Been better since the january transfer window closed, nowhere good enough to start though when Hatem is back.

We'd have lost 1-0 if everyone had made similar contributions yesterday.

Except Tiote?

Look at the bigger picture Ian. Tiote's job is to boss the midfield, when he stops doing that he'll be out of the side. Jonas is a wide forward, what should his job be, and does he provide it?

Having a player who can't cross, assist or score goals playing as part of a front 3 is pretty ridiculous. Especially for a team that's already lacking creatively any way. Should be a priority to upgrade him in the summer.

Definitely, 1 part of the 3 point plan we should be looking to execute.
