Moore has a torn hamstring while Duff has an appointment with a specialist in London tomorrow to discover the extent of his knee injury. Both players were injured in Saturday's battling draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and any hopes United had that the scans on the injuries would provide some much-needed good news have been dashed. Glenn Roeder, who must be wondering just how much more bad injury news he can take, told me today: "We have looked at the scans and Craig Moore has a tear in his hamstring. "Damien Duff will go to London tomorrow to see a knee specialist and there is a chance he has a small tear in his cartilage. If so he will probably be ruled out for around a month." Moore has a history of hamstring trouble and it took him until March to recover from the last one he suffered in pre-season of the last campaign. Roeder is already without Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi for the rest of the season because of their knee and hip injuries, while both full-backs Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro are out of tomorrow's UEFA Cup-tie with Celta Vigo at St James' Park. But unlike predecessor Graeme Souness, Roeder has never made injuries an excuse and he believes that if a player is missing then it gives someone else a chance. In the case of Duff, the natural replacement is Charles N'Zogbia who has been down in the dumps this season following the departures of his big pals Amady Faye and mentor Jean Alain Boumsong. Now the ball will be very much in N'Zogbia's court with Roeder saying: "Charles is a very important young member of our squad and the key word here is young. "For while he quickly clocked up 50 games for us, he is still only 20 and people should not forget that." Someone who is younger than N'Zogbia is Paul Huntingdon but, despite talk to the contrary, Roeder is unlikely to give the 19-year-old central defender his first start against some of the most skilful front men in Europe. Whatever his faults, Roeder's man- management skills have never been in question and the United boss will be wondering whether to use a bit of psychology on Albert Luque . When he was back in Spain with Deportivo La Coruna there wasn't a bigger game than the derby match with United's opponents tomorrow night.
