Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

Franz Beckenbauer has been provisionally banned by FIFA for 90 days for failing to cooperate with corruption investigation.

Related to the Qatar bid apparently. Come on!

Beckenbauer who pretty much denied the slavery thing over because he hadn't seen any. No shit, he hadn't seen it. Daft, greedy cunt

Sunil Gulati, flatly denied FIFA has approached them re: '22 WC. "They haven't asked us and I cannot imagine it happening anytime soon."

KFA have hinted that they might be back in for the 2022 World Cup if it's stripped from Qatar.

Unsure how much of a chance we'd have. We were 3rd behind the US by a single vote last time so I suppose it's not impossible.

It *should* be up for a re-vote. Though I'm not confident that vote would be fair either.

If it goes to a re-vote surely Qatar couldn't be involved?

don't be silly, Blatter will have a revote to make himself look good and get reelected then magically it will still go to Qatar because of "the quality of their bribes bid"

The thing is with the whole 'respect a country's culture'. It applies under ordinary circumstances, but when you're INVITING the entire world in for a month, when there were shit loads of alternatives and you have zero football history and then you ask them not to do things that are entirely normal to everywhere else in the world, you're taking the fucking piss.

Yeah 'respect a country's culture' generally means learn a few words of the local language and try not to act like a cunt.

Even if it wasn't things that were totally impractical, it would be okay. But no drinking...at a World fucking Cup and cover your skin....in 45 degree heat, it's specifically annoying. They're just coming out as annoying as fuck in general in this whole thing, it'll be a complete fucking disaster.

Don't be gay, and sepp blatter backing it has to be one of the most disgusting moments in modern football.

Culture stuff doesn't really bother me. But it's looking pretty unquestionable that they bought the f***ing thing now

Can it really go to a re- vote? I mean by the time people prepare bids, get the backing from their countries again, make the bids, then have a vote then you will pretty much need to be getting ground construction going straight away.

Not if you just fucking don't give it to a country with no fucking stadiums. :dontknow:

It'll not go to a re vote, FIFA simply cannot afford the legal bill coming its way if they do take it off Qatar.

Do you know just how much money FIFA have stashed away? To quote John Oliver, their rainy day fund is so large they need to check it for swimming cartoon ducks.

£23bn worth? That's the latest figure Qatar would look to claim off FIFA. I'd love nothing more tbh, if it killed FIFA and a new governing body formed, a one answerable to its public.

Honestly don't think Qatar has a chance at claiming money back if it is proven beyond doubt that they bought the WC. "Oh, our fraud was seen through? Well they better pay us our money back."
