Alan Pardew

The negative shit was warranted at the time. We lost a really likeable manager who was actually doing pretty good with us and he was replaced with Pardew who to be fair, didn't exactly set the world alight before coming here. He proved us and everyone else wrong and thank fucking god he did, these words have never tasted so good.

Never been more delighted to eat humble pie.

While I never slagged the bloke off, i wasn't happy at his appointment.

And the job has done wonders for his standing too, let's not forget.

The job has been a Godsend for him. He has even been linked as one of the top 3 mentioned for the England job.

I´m so glad that I´d was listening at the "phone in" tonight. Because if I loved Pardew before I´m just doing it even more now, and most of all, I feel so confidence for the future. Pardew is so wise and have just the right thought regarding the club, the city and the future. No matter what we are in great hands, and that is not just becuase of Pardew.

Fantastic achievement. First up I could not understand the thinking behind the appointment but I never believed the "casino buddies" stuff and, from early days, I thought I saw something in him that Hughton could not give us - so have always given him a chance (fantastic to see doubting posters now re-quoting their early condemning posts - genuine respect for that  O0). Every genuine fan has to be delighted with this award.

Imagine if someone had of told us he's going to be the best manager in the league soon when he was appointed or even in the summer they would have been considered to be either takin' the biscuit or else delusional.

He's been nothing short of brilliant over the course of this season.  From all levels that have been been much talked about, publicized and so on. Fucking Brilliant.

I remember my initial feelings of uneasiness when he was appointed and I deferred to many posters opinions on him as I had no real read on the man. I was a little uneasy about that rough patch we had, but reading between the lines you could see there was something positive about everything he was trying to achieve. My favorite part is that we'd all be moaning about certain decisions, and rightly so - but he was able to LEARN from his mistakes and we adapted, each time.  He has a vision for this club, and if we can hold on to our spine in the team and continue to build - I have no doubt he can achieve something truly great here at our club.

Fully deserved award gaffer, bring on Sunday now.

A much deserved accolade for Pardew. He's done such a phenomenal job this season - a guaranteed finish of 5th place is a fantastic achievement in anyone's books like. Whatever happens this Sunday, people can't deny that Alan has oversaw our best season in years. Silver fox ftw! :smug:

Wonder where we would be if he had the sense to tell our full backs not to go up the pitch when holding on in deep injury time. Lots to learn

Fantastic achievement for Pardew and the staff, and nice timing to help sink in how well we have done this season. While we hope for the best on Sunday lets try not to get too disappointed if we end up fifth. Can't believe I even just said that!

Wonder where we'd be if he didn't have the organisational skills and meticulous preparation to elicit in excess of 15 clean sheets from a defence including the defensive heavyweights Danny Simpson and Micheal Williamson.  Glass more than half full

It's about time an award is awarded on merit instead of over rated hype. We have seen in the past managers get this award despite having the worlds wealth and the very best players available to them, we also see time and time again the shittest of players awarded things just because of the media hype around them.

Pardew this season though has been manager of the season and he has deserved it.

"Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat" Napoleon Hill. Class quote.

Story of our seasons recently. Relegation, Hughton sacked, Carroll leaving. All these things lead to what we've achieved. Tiote gets injured v chelsea, raylor comes on to set up goal of the season.

When you've got the right people in charge, if you get knocked down you come back stronger. Class recognition for him & us as a club, lets keep it going.

IMO what Pards has done well this year:

- Handling of Ben Arfa to get him motivated/fit.

- Dropping Obertan after eventually realising the bloke is turboshit.

- Use of substitutions to close games out.

- Giving Coloccini the captaincy.

- Getting rid of the twats weighing the team down (Nolan, Barton, etc) - though possibly this had nothing to do with him.

- Utilising Jonas in a new CM role.

- Sticking with Krul once Harper was fit again (might be wrong there, can't remember).

- Best use of utility/squad players, i.e. Raylor, Perch, Shola.

- Integrating Cisse into the team so quickly.

- Overall best use of a relatively small and weak/thin squad.

IMO what he hasn't done so well, or needs to work on:

- Sometimes overly negative tactics.

- Initial suspected bias towards his own signings/recommendations (mainly Obertan).

- Poor movement and ball retention.

- Seems to have turned Jonas into a winger who does nothing but defend on the wing.

- Tendancy to tinker with formations, e.g. when this new 4-3-3 system looks tailor made for our players he is still opting for a defensive 4-4-2 at times.

- Some baffling substitutions when we've needed to chase games.
