BBC Sport understands that Pardew was in talks with Newcastle about taking over at St James' Park as long as 10 days ago.

 

It is believed Pardew became close friends with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and director Derek Llambias when all three were familiar faces at an exclusive London casino where Llambias was managing director.

 

Holy shit. Was going to post about how Pardew is probably another drinking buddie of Ashley based on the same story we had with Dennis Wise...

 

But fucking hell. So beyond disgraceful I'm lost for words, even if it's not a suprise (and of course assuming that line is true). Not only is it the sheer ignorance and stupidity of Ashley in appointing clueless dickheads to vastly important jobs because they're his mates, but as others have said, there's this nagging feeling of Pardew being a slimy, snake-like cunt who has wormed his way into a job by "befriending" Ashley (in other words, sucking his cock and stabbing a good man in the back to get his own shot at the limelight).

The thing is, with Hughton, he was kind of a barrier to the regime. He made me, to his credit, forget that we were owned/run by two fuckits. There will be no distinction with Pardew - he will (rightly) be seen as being part this shitty farce of club 'management'. Bollocks to making him feel welcome. I'll be giving the cunt as much shit as I can possibly muster.

David Pleat on 5live yesterday "I heard some of the stories of how Ashley appointed Joe Kinnear, for all i know he's in a coffee bar in London right now and someone will go up to him and get the job"

Tevez made 13 appearances in 06/07 in the 20 games Pardew had until he was sacked, scoring none. Mascherano made 7 appearances in the same period.

tevez looked quality as time went on, mascherano looked shit.

 

The fact Mascherano looked shit tells you all you need to know about Pardew. If you put Glen Hoddle in  a Tony Pulis side he'd probably look shit too.

or i've correctly remembered the start of last season. the players played for him because they liked him, i also still remember nolan calling for a sub for tactical reasons and it was done minutes later.

 

You haven't correctly remembered the start of the season at all and as I said, completely underestimated the influence of the manager in football.  You've trotted out the same cliches that the Hughton haters used.  Claiming we had the best squad in the division blah blah blah.  Football isn't won on paper and most fans appreciate this.

i said at the time we had the strongets squad, backed it at the bookies and won handsomely.

Take a look at our benches from last season up until January to find out why he played Smith. I hate Smith but fucking hell, talk about twisting facts.
