If we'd used our momentum to add to what we had then we could have gone upwards, just as we did after promotion then 3rd place under Keegan. As Pardew says the gap is getting ever wider between those with European enhanced incomes and the rest, but we have the stadium and the support to be up there again. We have to use momentum and build on it, not keep bringing ourselves to a grinding halt while praying that we don't go backwards. A winning team can sell players easily and at a premium - but don't sell them until the team has evolved enough to not need them. We could speculate to accumulate without mortgaging our future - by all means scout far and wide and buy bargains, but let them earn their way over time into a succesful team then sell off the slack. It is absolutely scandalous that this club with it's known fanbase, gate receipts and turnover, is now being told we can't push on 3 or 4 places in the Premiership. Fucking outrageous. Yes we can, smaller clubs are doing it on a shoestring aswell. It marks a clear lack of willing. You wouldn't even need to spend anywhere near 35m to kick on if there was the will and at least a couple of people who know something about football. For gambling men it seems they aren't prepared to speculate enough. I still think pardew is a wanker aswell. Imo, should Pardew go then it would be an absolute disaster for the club- we'd end up with Steve Stone as manager... The thing that really kills me is that ownership isn't like a manager; you can't just sack them when you've had enough, they'll always be there until a suitable offer comes along....and at the moment that just doesn't look realistic.
