It doesnt look like they are prepared to invest in the squad to push for europe so the best weve got to look forward to is mid table for the foreseeable future. and we are better off? What exactly were we looking forward to in 2007 when we were insolvent, had borrowed against every asset, our owners weren't going to put any money in and we had Allardyce as our manager? I'm far from an Ashley hater, I do like a lot of the things he's done since taking over. But I don't think he's got much ambition, and that limits what I think we can achieve. If we go out and show real ambition this summer and make a couple of big splashes in the transfer market then I'll happily change my tune, but I personally don't expect it to happen. I've said more or less the same thing in another post somewhere today, probably in this thread. Ashley isn't enthusiastic about this club or at least isn't willing to invest more ambitiously. Quickly from being a top 4 club and one who was expected to put up a fight for the Premiership and win something very soon we became a club sitting in 5th/6th place then to one sitting in mid table. Our income was starting to get less and our outgoings were far too much. in the end we would have went down and that would have put us in a severe financial difficulty if we didn't have anyone there to prop us up as Ashley did.
