And? Well surely they're to blame as well ? And i would of thought £60m pales in the face of the billions it end up costing us compared to what Labour reckoned it would cost. Just saying like. Add the £350m to build it. The porn brothers are getting a new stadium and making a profit off the sale of the Boleyn. Daylight robbery.
Guest bimpy474
Really would be an ideal world if politicians stayed out of sport, money always seems to get hoovered up and disappears.

The initial costs were crazy and I'm not trying to justify that, it has nothing to do with the tories cutting benefits while splashing out £60 million on this shite. That's a problem you could replicate a hundred fold though mate, spending on something while cutting something else, tories, labour whichever numbnuts are in doing the same thing over and over again. Hate the lot of them me.

Leeds might lose it's Childrens Heart Transplant unit, they could have carried out something like 120 life saving operaions with the money these clows are pissing down the drain. I work in the NHS and to say there not enough money is nonsense, it's awash with money but wasted by idiots. Also trusts ? dear god, the way they waste money is mental. Not on here though, this is footy chat like.
Decky
Has it been confirmed that the sale of Upton Park isn't part of this deal? Surely a percentage of that goes to the government?

jdckelly
Has it been confirmed that the sale of Upton Park isn't part of this deal? Surely a percentage of that goes to the government? given West Ham wanted it for free originally and were argued into paying an incredible £15m (out of a sum total of £600m total cost to build and convert) and governments are incompetent negotiator's at the best of times I wouldn't hold my breath over it

Man City now only pay £3m per season for their stadium, bear in mind they get a hell of a lot more than that just for the naming rights it's pretty much free. When the Etihad was built (or COMS as it was known as) it cost £112m to build, then a further £22m in improvements after the Commonwealth games, Man City did invest £20m though to install catering and other facilities. Up until 2010 they only paid a % of their match day ticket revenue which averaged £2m per season, they now pay only £3m per season.
madras
time to e-mail MP's and such to ask why the government are spending 60mill on it ? shouldn't west ham put in what they get for the boleyn ground and at best the government/newham council/boris's fund take up the balance. even that is being very generous. wyn davies
does it matter?, better get these stadiums in use as opposed to leaving them empty and falling into disrepair aka greece.

Football clubs should not in any way get an advantage by using Tax Payer's money.

leffe186
Keep the running track This stadium is going to be s*** isn't it? I really hope so. Would hate for this to be the making of West Ham.
Kanji
Surely can't be man. By 2016 they move into a 54k stadium with a track. Every awesome thing in the ground is moot when you throw in the track.
Disco
Retractable seats are going to go over the track as per Stade de France aren't they?
Eddy Chibas
I hate multipurpose/or athletics venues, when used for football (like Delle Alpi) - beasts they are (for size), but there's a disconnect. Perfect venue for Fat Sam's anti-football though, at least for his ego, if he's still at the helm. The olympic stadium won't have the intimate feel of a purpose built football ground, particularly when the natives rally against the results & style of football on offer, so the chants of 'we are West Ham, we play football on the deck' will be somewhat lost within the it's spacious interior. Kaizero
I feel for the West Ham fans, even though I quite dislike the club. Really don't see this having any kind of positive effect on their club bar them having more empty seats at a stadium they don't want.
Dokko
Going to be annoying when West Ham are above us in stadium capacity. Time to hoy on an extra 8,000 seats, get the second spot back.
