He's French, it's incredible he hasn't been on strike before TBH.

He has, he walked out on the team against Watford in 2007.

This situation was on the cards since the day they bought him. It's why he's not at Arsenal.

It's also why (like Ben Arfa and Barton) we have a chance of buying these top quality players - because they come with baggage.

Part of the trouble is that there have been a number of over-the-odds transfers in the last few months - Carroll, Henderson, Bent, Downing - and owners like Whelan are saying that if he goes for £20m, my player is just as good and I expect a similar fee.

I don't think these fees are realistic for that standard of player, particularly with FFP coming up. £9m for Zoggy in the last year of his contract is a good bid.

Just seen Dave Whelan on SSN. He says there are 2 other premier league clubs other than Villa bidding for N'zogbia.

What's interesting is that Whelan also said that the transfer depends on who's willing to pay the most up front. I think our MO in the transfer market is that we pay all our transfers up front, which would still leave us in with a shot.

Maybe Baggio is right after all.

Aye I think we have more pressing areas than wide midfield now. Wrap the striker up, and try and get a centre-back and cover for the full-back positions.

Pardew had always mentioned us going for a striker then a midfielder/winger. I don't see why our plans have or should change. We're still going to target a midfielder after the erdinc deal is done.

We won't get a cb because no one has mentioned getting a cb and maybe we'll get a backup LB but I doubt it because we were obviously not planning on paying much, hence the bid for Taylor. For what its worth, I think we'll get Taylor next year when Swansea are relegated because he'll have a relegation release clause in his new contract.

At the moment we have Jonas, Marveaux and Barton who can play on the flanks.  We can add one more winger but before that we have to ship out Routledge AND Raylor.

NEWCASTLE UNITED are NOT expected to re-enter the race to bring Charles N’Zogbia back to St James’ Park.

Pardew pretty much himself a week or so ago said that the N'Zogbia thing was pretty much gone, so why are the Sunday Sun dragging it up again saying we're not going back in for him?
