How do you see the rest of the season panning out?

I think our drama for this season is over, its going to be a very average end to the season, which in all honesty will suit me fine.

I don't think any of the W teams are in the position or have the quality to finish above us, possibly one due to the randomness of the league but that is it, certainly not 3 of them.

I reckon we'll pull back the gap between us and Sunderland, and be above them for a bit, but think our squad will pick up injuries and they'll finish above us but not by much.

Sounds about right to me. Win a few, lose a few, finish in the middle somewhere.

Got a feeling Ireland could be used instead of Nolan.

We've got plenty of winnable games coming up soon which we need to take advantage of.

I think we'll go down tbh, midfield is shite other than Tiote.  Defence is not too bad but Williamson isn't fit to wear the shirt of Gateshead.

Strikeforce is League 2 standard and we have nothing in reserve.

Jesus, get a fucking grip of yourself. There's negativity and theres just plain old shite.

:fishing:

Do we have a :chomp: icon?

Newcastle don't do boring.

I predict we'll lose a couple against poor sides, slip down the table, collectively shit ourselves for a few weeks, and then pick up the points we need against better sides after making things far more difficult than they need to be.

Now onto us. It's a strange one because I think we look better organised under Pardew and our performances have generally improved (especially against the teams dubbed 'worse' than us). I'm also more confident going into home games than I was under Hughton. The 'strange thing' is, I'm less confident in our ability to score goals.

Now that might be considered weird, especially after Arsenal last week, but in the games away at Wigan and Blackburn yesterday, we enjoyed significantly more possession of the ball and had alot more chances than the opposition. Yet we came out of both games with only 1 goal scored, it's slightly concerning for what was significant dominating (IMO).

This is one of the things I pick up on to criticise with regards Pardew. You see, for me, under Hughton we had game plans predicated on taking the calculated risks necessary to score goals and win points with our limited team. Kind of pre-meditated swashbuckling. It's one of the things I think Pardew hasn't understood and has removed/is removing from our game. Consequently, we're less effectively organised. We're a more mundane team, and in our position mundanity invites destruction.

Given that, allied to our striking injuries and possible suspensions, I have real doubts about the winnability of the home games you mention. So if you're right about us losing at Stoke too... I can see things looking pretty toxic.

Aside from that, thanks for the post Johnny.

That's a good point. Hughton was sometimes considered too negative but I always felt we were pretty hard to beat because he had the team well organised. Against that, Pardew has probably got us a couple of wins through his desire to play the pressing game...although I thought it was a bad idea against Fulham and played right into their hands. I would like to see more flexibility from Pardew to suit the opposition rather than a one size fits all approach. That's more for next season though. Right now we just need to get the next win sooner rather than later as it's been a while since we picked up maximum points. I am pretty sure it won't be against brum.

a few wins a few losses a few draws, a few gaffes from llambias or ashley, a few odd statements from pardew that will have forum split about him as usual, a few great games from nolan where he will be proclaimed brilliant and a few games where he will be regarded as a fat waste of time and a disgrace to the shirt etc etc, a few shite journos linking whoever with moves to man utd chelsea liverpoool etc etc and ensuing panic and premature rage

So..exactly the same as the season so far then.

We all know Birmingham will beat us 6-0, Bolton will thrash us 7-0, then we'll destroy Man United 9-0 with three Kuqi hattricks, Liverpool will give us 4 penalties and we'll win at Anfield and then get a last minute draw at Chelsea when the ball goes in off Harper's arse.

I can see there being quite a few more draws which will just drag the torture on for a longer period.

I think we may well become the draw specialists of the latter stages of the season.

As long as we're safe before we enter May, I don't really care tbh. Survival is the most important thing.

Absolutely, I don't doubt that we may drop a few places yet, but would be great if we could make it through to the end of the season with a bit of breathing space ultimately.

The fact though that at this stage of the season we are not only above the teams that came up with us, but also established teams like Blackburn, Villa, Everton, and Fulham etc is a credit to everyone from the top to the bottom of the club.

As I have already said in this thread, our next 6 games or so are all pretty much winnable. I'd like to think that we can use our next 6 games to get to the safety mark. Out of our 12 games left this season we only play 5 teams who are currently above us.

badly and painfully, with at least one more mega f***-up from Ashley.

I don't think the next mega fuck-up will come until the season's over, tbh. It'll be when we've made safety reasonably comfortably in the end, things are looking a bit good, people are starting to wonder if maybe the Ashley Model isn't such a bad thing after all, at which point he'll pull the rug out again. Not sure how he'll do it next, but it won't be til late July IMO.

Guest Roy the Irish Magpie

As long as we win two more and draw at least 2 more I'll be pleased.

I'm eying two wins at st james' against wba and wolves maybe everton aswell but you never know this season.

As for the draws hopfully we get at least one point in the matches against birmingham(home or away), bolton and aston villa away

For some reason I'm getting the gut feeling that the club is going back up for sale this summer.

In other news, every new morning brings you a day closer to death.

It's true though. Just because he doesn't come out with a stupid statement and put [email protected] on the website doesn't mean it's not for sale at present. I'd probably prefer it that way anyway, the surrounding disruption and speculation previously was terrible and we don't need it.
