NG32
I always thought the parade was the way to do and thought it would be an impressive turn out by the fans but im still in total awe at how many actually did turn out. Cant stop looking at the pics, its just amazing.

You can tell the players were generally shocked and amazed by the level of support. So many fans of other clubs commenting positively on it and all. I went along in 1993 for the Keegan promotion and was taken aback then but this was on another level.

The 1993 parade started at the Gossy Park Hotel, and came along through Gosforth. Was only once they got to Blue House Roundabout the crowds really started and then swelled around the civic. Saturdays route was much better, as it allowed for strong crowds right along the route from the ground, down gallowgate, onto percy st, and along through Haymarket. Also, all those high up on all levels of the Eldon Multi-Storey car parks. Just amazing scenes all along that route. Didn't appreciate till I saw the coverage how deep the crowds were, back from the road/where the bus drove through. Many many more people than 1993. RUHRLYASLEEVESUP Posted yesterday at 05:59 Share Posted yesterday at 05:59 (edited) Incredible photo of St James’ Park in 1993 hosting Newcastle v Sunderland in the old Division One. The Magpies, under the stewardship of manager Kevin Keegan, would go on to get promoted to the newly formed Premiership. You can see the beginnings of what will be that huge Leazes Stand that would transform the ground into one of the most iconic in English football. Just off picture to the right, front row of the East Stand. The black flag over the ad hoardings on the replays of the goal is us. That was the wheeze-keys-are-these game wasn't it? Elma
Yeah, think so. I was 18. Had had season tickets in the Milburn (level with the Gallowgate 18 yard box) with my parents until the end of the previous season. We gave my ticket up when I went to university in the September, and then about eight games in (when we realised it was going to be a sellout) decided to buy a standing season ticket in the paddock for me for whenever I made it back up. Got soaked that day. 😂
