Apparently its "12th man day" or something like that at Villa Park for our game. Fans organising to bring scarves and make a noise and the like. Could buoy the players but similarly if we can get it to 0-0 at half time, they might get on the players backs

I've honestly never wanted to stick it a team more than I do next Sunday.

Three points would be absolutely bloody massive. And would feel so sweet.

Tweaked as to how I might be tempted to go at it, Keegan style  :snod:

Hopefully the players will remember that day at Villa Park 2 years ago and get the job done.

Something Nolan would have been good for. I am sure he will have a say in the build up though.

Lovenkrands in the number 10 role man. That would be a crime against football.

We don't have the players for that formation. Viduka's, Martins' and Owen's quality were absolute key to it. No one (in our current team) can hold the ball up as well as Viduka, no one has the pace and unpredictibilty of Martins and no one has the goalscoring quality (and also the playmaking abilty that he had at the time) as Owen.

Added to that, we would need Tiote for it to be the holding midfielder.

It's never going to happen but wouldn't mind seeing how Richardson does in the middle thus keeping Barton out on the right. If we had another 4 or 5 points on the board then Pardew might have tried it, after all having Tiote and Nolan suspended gives him the ideal opportunity to do so, but as it is he wont and I don't really blame him for that. Full expect to see Raylor on the right with Barton and Guthrie in the centre.

I was thinking the same for Richardson but it will be to light with Guthrie. Once Tiote is back I will give some time for Richardson to see what he is capable of.

What will Villa's likely lineup be ?

The only thing i'm worried about is Bent with Young and Downing supplying him.

The rest of the team is piss poor , especially the defence.

It's a little bit over the top to say the rest of the team is piss poor - playing poorly of late, maybe, but there's plenty of quality there. In fact, we're playing very well from the midfield up, it is the defence that is suspect.

He went 442 yesterday, so I'd expect to see the same again, maybe with Cuellar replacing Collins, though.

Friedel

Luke Young - Cuellar - Dunne - Walker

Young - Makoun - NRC - Downing

Bent - Agbonlahor.

Villa looked decent today, I thought. Completely perplexed how a team with Young, Agbonlahor, Bent and Downing are so near the relegation zone.

Defence. Fucked all season long.

We've played more decent football this season than in the last two combined, I reckon, but if you make it so easy for the opposition to score, you're always going to struggle.

I'd say this season is down to 20% MON fucking off turmoil, 30% Houllier's shitness, 30% injury crises - and they've been terrible - and 20% defensive shiteness.
