Those are probably the best examples. Broadening it up a bit. Are there players who started in one position and ended up in a slightly more different one? I always thought Alan Smith was a striker and then he turned into a defensive mid.

Are there any examples of players who play in drastically different positions for club and country? Like Andy Robertson is Scotland's best player. Would it be better for him to play play as a number 10 and have the team built around him, or would that just be really difficult to coach and learn?

He’d probably be a worse number 10 than whoever they have playing there now. Alaba started out at Bayern as a centre mid and that’s where he plays for Austria so not really the same

Rob Lee. From a right-winger to attacking midfielder to more of a sitting midfielder at the end.

Think I read Dion Dublin started out as a centre back

Gordon Strachan played him at centre half many times for Coventry.  Think he was called up for England during one of these periods of him playing there too.

Played there towards the end at Leicester too I think
