Ipswich have called for a transfer embargo to be placed on Premier League new-boys Swansea over the loan move for Tamas Priskin.

The Hungarian striker joined the Swans in March, but his spell was ended by injury in the middle of April.

And Ipswich say the Swans owe them money for the player's wages.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: "I am hugely disappointed that a legally binding agreement reached in good faith by both clubs is now being disputed."

The East Anglian side say that when the move for the 24-year-old was completed the Swans agreed to pay Priskin's wages until the end of May as well as make further payments connected to the play-offs.

Clegg, speaking Town's official website, added: "I am genuinely delighted for Swansea City and their fans but the attempted renegotiation and deliberate misinterpretation of agreed terms by their chairman is not fitting for a club which has just secured the ultimate prize in Championship football and with it a £90m windfall.

"Tamas arrived in Swansea fit and became injured whilst under their care. That's football, but contracts have to be honoured and I have absolutely no interest in re-negotiating the agreement.

"As a result of Swansea refusing to pay our invoices, I have reported them to the Premier League, sought an immediate transfer embargo and am now seeking full payment of all outstanding sums with the agreed contractual interest rate of 5% above base."

Any embargo would be a big blow to Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of his side's maiden Premier League campaign.

He has already broken his club's transfer record to sign striker Danny Graham from Watford, and has also been linked with moves for Brazil midfielder Marcos Senna and Spurs defender Steven Caulker.

The Swans are also in the hunt for a goalkeeper after last season's first-choice Dorus de Vries joined Wolves earlier this week.

Liverpool's midfield.

Raul Meireles = £11m

Joe Cole = Free but wages of £90,000 per week

Lucas = £5m

Christian Poulsen = £4.5m

Alberto Aquilani = £17m

Jorden Henderson = £20m

I'd say two were value for money, and even Lucas it's only been the case recently.

Don't forget Birmingham City! Another nail in our coffin...

Just reading Wolfsburg have put Diego up for sale talk of him returning to Brazil at just 26.. wonder if a Man United or Chelsea take a gamble on him certainly a cheaper option then Modric.

Got fined about £400k for going AWOL for the last game of the season didn't he? ???

He was carrying on like a cunt all last season, unusual characteristic for a Brazilian. Wouldn't be up to playing central midfield in the Prem unless he was given free reign to do what he fancied IMO.

Yeah seems to have had trouble at every club he has been at great ability though would be a waste if he goes back to Brazil at just 26.

£450k for storming off on the last day in a Robert-esq protest.

Not a snowball's chance in hell he could play central midfield. He's an attacking midfielder period. He needs to be in the final third with freedom to just do what he pleases to truly be effective, of course sometimes that results in very little other times like at Bremen it produces brilliance.

Riiiiiiicky Alvarez has agreed to go to Arsenal according to the Palermo president (I assume they were after him). Just what Arsenal need, a piss weak midfieder with no real position who's good going forward and on the ball.

The 23-year-old plays for Velez Sarsfield and has been linked with a move to Europe for some time.

Alvarez is particularly attractive for European clubs as he holds an Italian passport meaning he would not require a work permit.

Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini told local media: "We were interested in Alvarez, we were very close to him in January.

"We lost him due to our mistake, and I know that he has already signed for Arsenal."

Alvarez has a buy-out clause of €12million (£10.6million) with Velez Sarsfield who have just won the Clausura title in Argentina.

Absolutely ludicrous. Can't believe their first two signings look like Alvarez and Gervinho. Fucking mugs.

Alvarez can play anywhere across the 3 behind van Persie, make of that what you will. I've not seen enough of Gervinho play but Alvarez is very hispanic in his style. Be interested to see how he adapts, Arsenal are the only English team he could play for IMO, might regret not going to Spain/Italy IMO.

"RIGHT, let's get the right signings in this window. Big nasty CB, motherfucking DM, goalkeeper who can at the very least catch a cold, and a little fucking goalpoacher to help van Persie. Then we'll piss the league."

"OooOOOOOoOoo Gervinho wants to leave Lille. He has no actual position, is African, flair as fuck... sign sign sign."

"Hmm okay, don't know why we signed him, lets get what we need now for sure"

"OoOooOOOoOoO, Ricky Alvarez is going to Roma! Can't let that happen, left flooted, hispanic, flairyy as fuck...no real position again... sign sign sign"

"Shit, we've done it again. The window is closing. Lets go and get atleast one  or two of those positions we needed to fill"

"What, we have no money left to spend? Oh. Give Sol and Patrick a ring. See if they want to come back"
