Dave
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-united-transfers-joe-kinnear-2222474 Newcastle have told Arsenal they must cough up £20million for Yohan Cabaye – with three-quarters of the money up front. Toon director of football Joe Kinnear has taken over negotiations with the Gunners after the French playmaker informed Newcastle boss Alan Pardew he wants to leave. Cabaye sat out Saturday’s goalless draw with West Ham because he was not in the right frame of mind to play, after the Geordies rejected Arsenal’s £10m bid . Kinnear said: “We’ve told Arsenal our terms, the ball is in their court.”

No doubt now Golfmag was right when Pardew was appointed: Pardew takes a cut of any transfer profit we make. Some way to run a football club aiming for top 8. alexf
Each Pardew quote is just something out of a Michael Owen type brochure for Cabaye. It's all designed to get the most interest and money for him. Except buying clubs aren't idiots and will know what he can do and what he's worth. Unbelievable
I wonder how we will fare without our assistant scout for France, our only hunting ground. Can't do any worse in terms of transfers than this summer (again) mind..

Hughesy
Surely the difference in the quotes people keep bringing up is because of Cabaye's refusal to play? It isn't that strange.
Gallowgate Toon
We'll only spend if he goes as I suspect losing him will mean the management don't think our squad is good enough to finish in the top half.

Naturally. How reliable is nufc_stats as a source though? I'll wait for a club statement on a fine or even the local papers doing so without Cabaye challenging the decision before committing to whether he's a cunt. Guest
Says something about Newcastle that the one club who's done worse than us in the market this summer has managed to unsettle one of our best players with a mediocre transfer bid. What does it say? We're s****. Up to now this transfer's been the equivalent of Dick Byrne (Wenger) getting Cyril to get the corner flag (Cabaye) as a momento and Dougal (Pardew) just watching it, doing little to stop him but they still seem as inept at getting their hands on it.
