Wilson
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/07/19/us-visa-approved-too-late-for-yohan-cabaye-72703-29079848/ s*** as f*** ALAN PARDEW says that Yohan Cabaye has been granted a visa – however it will be processed too late for him to take part in the Magpies’ American tour. Cabaye – who missed out on his visa due to a technicality believed to be caused by a disputed dental bill – linked up today with United’s reserve team for their tour of Holland. Cabaye joins Joey Barton, Nile Ranger, Xisco and James Perch as one of the senior men on board, but Wayne Routledge’s place in the squad was in doubt with the winger in talks with Swansea City. Speaking in Kansas, Pardew told the Chronicle: “We’ve already had word back that he will eventually get a visa, but it doesn’t help us, because we need it now. It’s a three-week process. “It’s one of those situations, but for us, it became very frustrating. “There was no talking them around, and unfortunately the process was too long for us to rectify it.” But Pardew is determined to look on the bright side of things. He added: “It’s unfortunate that Cabaye’s not with us, but I’m sure it won’t take him long to show just what a class act he is. “I’m a disappointed at Yohan not being here, if I’m honest. “It would have been nice to have him around this group. “It was on such a technicality – he really should have got a visa.” Meanwhile, Pardew has discovered that neither Danny Guthrie or Shane Ferguson are likely to be ready for the start of the new season. The duo picked up ankle and leg injuries respectively at Darlington on Friday night. Pardew said: “It’s not particularly great news on either of them. “It’s looking like neither will be ready for the start of the season. “Fergie has probably got more chance than Guthrie. “It’s OK, we can cope, but if we lost another two, then it won’t be OK. “I wouldn’t say we’re on a knife-edge with injuries, but our squad isn’t particularly big.”

US embassy employees are pretty infamous around here for going on rampant power trips. Probably just some embassy worker getting a hard-on by "showing who's boss" to a rich footballer. wormy
More than enough time to build that fair sized squad that we need... Until the team get back from the US and we get another utterly truthful and believable soundbite from Pardoo stating that we have a fantastic squad capable of handling the forthcoming season. Jayson
Set pieces sound class, just need him to get into the game in open play more. Having him actually play with a ball winner like tiote in a single game might help like.

Nope, think it's fair to say all of them, including Pardew etc are less than satisfied. Just can't see us finding a headline player willing to come in at this stage though sadly. Hope to feck I'm wrong mind.
