themanupstairs
IMO there are no issues with Ba and Cisse playing up front together. The problem is in creating chances for them. Once Pardew has figured that out, we'll be an even bigger force. It boils down to where Ben Arfa and Cabaye play, as they are clearly our most creative players. In order for Ben Arfa to play in the number 10 position, we needed an attacking RB to go with Santon on the left. That is why signing a player like Debuchy was so important to us. Mind you with Anita now at RB things look 10X better. Krul Anita Taylor Coloccini Santon Jonas Tiote Cabaye Ben Arfa Ba Cisse The forwards can make runs into the channels, the attacking midfielders can also roam, alternating in going wide, central or arriving late in the box. We can counter using our fullbacks. Jonas and Tiote will press and harry and protect. It's worth giving it a go, as if we can get both our number 9 and 19 scoring freely, we'd seriously challenge the top 4.
Guest Phil K
Demba Ba @dembabafoot Good night people. So proud for that 1,000th goal. I'm not a legend like people say, but nufc is a legendary club!!! Wrong on one thing Demba mate. You ARE a legend

TherealnorthernTOON
For me it's more about how both Cisse and Ba wants to be the main man, and gets kind of greedy as bieffect of that. If they would play more for eachother they would function alot better as a pairing.
Lush Vlad
Kind of ended up playing like that against Villa. Hatem always drifts about, but he seemed to be staying quite central and then just popping up all over. Worth a shot I reckon. As I can't see either being happy playing wide left. Neville pointed out potential problems with that before the game, when showing footage from the Swansea match.
Disco
The first goal was classic evidence of them being able to play together btw, two great runs to split the defence and give Cabaye an option.
Lush Vlad
They actually searched each other out with passes a few times as well. One where Ba played a chipped/flicked through ball, but Cisse was his customary 8 yards offside

They can. They did against WBA away last year aswell and we came away 1-3 winners with Cisse, Ba and HBA all combining.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Anyone got any idea's on the “I was very determined because lately I have not been so happy with some things. Some things have been going on. When I got my boots on, I couldn’t wait” line?
Kanj
I'd like to think that as the goals start to come in and we hit our stride all will be okay with everyone....heres to hoping!

AlanSkÃrare
I have no problem with Ba being a bit moody at all. He's a winner, he's been that type of character all along. I remember Pardew mentioning his personality being his biggest asset. He thinks very highly of himself, he's very confident. He's had a tough spell since Papiss arrived, that's no secret. Him proving to himself, Pardew and us that he's as good as he showed last autumn is probably the only thing on his mind. Of course he's angry with being left out. Excellent response. We had one of the top strikers in Europe when he was on form last season, hopefully getting back to that now that he might feel more settled again. Another good thing: this puts a bit of pressure on Cissé. He'll want to make a case for himself.

AlanSkÃrare
Papiss proved Pardew right. No doubt Ba will be number one if he keeps this up. It's how it works. His agent can fuck off.
Pilko
I'm very impressed at his reaction to being dropped. Superb half from Demba.
Newcastle Fan
I think he needed to be dropped to realize he's not untouchable and that he needs to prove himself, credit to him his reaction to it was brilliant.
Jayson
If we were to play 3 upfront again, id say Demba has certainly earnt the central spot now. Just as Cisse had leading on from last season.
The Bard of Byker
I wonder what Harry Redknapp thinks of all this.
Jagten
"How could you put your best striker with full confidence on the left wing?" added Gontran. "The choice to put Demba on the left last season was good for the club, because Cisse scored 13 goals." I think you've just answered your own question there, mate. Guest Rey Mysterio
The finish for the second goal was really classy. Changed at the very last second to get the ball under Howard, the finish of a confident striker!
Kanj
I'm fine with an angry Demb. The fact of the matter is he came back from the ACON looking well knackered and could have scored a few great goals had it not been for some posts and some bad luck. But having said all that, this is the first time he's looked like his old self. So keep it up - Get that "I'll show you" type anger back like he had last 1st half of the season when he seemed like a man trying to prove a point to the world. There is no resting on laurels in this crazy game. I hope this is the start of him and our squad getting back to form.

We were 5th before Ba got shunted out on the wing. We were hardly struggling.
