Minhosa
Wonder if he'll kick up a fuss when he's played out wide there? He'd stand on the side line and play the bagpipes for £90k a week. He's only ever going to be about money.
AlanSkÃrare
Not too disheartened about him leaving if it means we'll get Remy or someone like him. Big test for Pardew to cope without Ba, he's been a very important figure in his time here and I think he'll feel let down by Ba after sticking with him and giving him so much support. Could well turn out an idiotic move for him tbh. Doubt he'll force Torres out of the side while Benitez is their manager. With Lukaku coming back as well, he might struggle to get games. He'll miss being at our club. He'll love the money though, I hope they mean much to him.
Minhosa
Wonder if he'll kick up a fuss when he's played out wide there? They wont play him out wide, he'll get splinters in his arse from sitting on the bench mind. Tells you everything you need to know about that man that he is still happy to make this move despite Chelsea making it perfectly clear that he will be second choice behind Torres. Plus they've got Lukaku coming back next season too. Now THAT would have been a signing. Ba + £'s in exchange for Lukaku. Kid is going to be a real player. Beren
Due to issues with one of his knees, Ba agreed to a basic weekly salary at Newcastle of £20,000 with another £20,000 bolted on top for appearances. Whether the figures are real or not, it's pretty clear that moneybags clubs like Chelsea and Man City operate on a totally different level to the rest of us. They'll double his wages just to sit on their bench. The furore from his advisors following him being benched for the Everton game would make a lot more sense if that contractual situation were true. Chris_R
Wonder if he'll kick up a fuss when he's played out wide there? The only reason he cared about playing out wide is that it lessened his chance of a move that would put him on the money he felt he deserved to be on. Now he's got that money, and at 27 with what will be his final big payday, he won't give a shit if all they want him to do is drive the team bus. From all the interviews I've read of him talking of his struggles as a young footballer, it's all been about constantly getting a better contract at a better club rather than being a good footballer and playing well for the team etc. He's very single-minded and determined, with the sole goal of making as much money as he can. Being a good footballer has just been something he's had to do to achieve that. Not knocking him for that mind, just pointing it out.

Yes thats a very interesting idea. Without trying to be obvious, it would seem he's totally motivated by money in his decisions and these elusive advisors are obviously a bad influence on the manager and board. Enjoy the bench Demba! themanupstairs
His agent did kick up a fuss, probably to that contractual situation, but there's no two ways about it - when he played he did what he was paid to do which is score goals. tmonkey
Kinda feel sorry for Chelsea. They're signing a CL striking equivalent of Danny Simpson. No doubt Ba will be pointing and mouthing off at Hazard and Mata when they pass the ball into his feet and it bounces away from his big clown feet. Wullie
Not surprised in the slightest that he's off and won't miss the 'will he/won't he' debacle every time a window comes around. He's done fantastically well but is inevitably going to be an Anelka, working his way from signing on fee to signing on fee in order to fund his brothers/advisors/pals/cousins etc etc. I never really took to the guy for that reason. This was only ever going to be a short term relationship and, in many respects, it's nice to just get it out of the way and move on. I tend to agree with this. Incredibly popular at first, once the clause was first made public by Redknapp and it became clear that he didn't want to sign a new deal without it, it has been an uneasy relationship between him and the club. Nobody can accuse him of letting that affect his performances, which is massively to his credit, but ever since the Everton game, this has had a sense of inevitability about it. Ba obviously thought he should be untouchable and that is not good for the team no matter who the player is.

Interpolic
If Ba goes there and starts banging in a goal or 2 most times he's given the chance then of course he'll get plenty of time on the pitch in the short term. However I think he'll have a problem in the medium to long term as he'll never be a big enough name for them and they'll spend fortunes trying to force him down the pecking order so he's not much more than a squad player. He'll probably be off by then anyway so it won't matter too much to either party.
tmonkey
Medical tomorrow morning. Will be sweating over this - Ba just needs to go all Gattaca on the treadmill and pretend the knee is fine.
