Simply because they'll throw a load of money at him and in football today that's what counts sadly. Add to the fact we have an owner who is constantly thinking of ways to make/save money by shifting players off big contracts and selling them. You'd have to hope that the fact we're doing really well, Liverpool hardly setting the world alight, he enjoys living in the NE with his family settled and if the club can reward him with a proper contract then that should be enough to keep him. Was surprised when it looked like he was staying, as giving him a contract that would end with no resale value and while he's still able to command a good fee goes completely against the Ashley model. Liverpool are the kind of team who would over-pay for him as well. Decided against getting a Colo shirt even after that interview with him because I could see it happening even then. Aside from Colo himself saying he's happy and settled here (how many players have we heard say similar over the years then move on soon after), I can't see why not. He's on big money, approaching 30, hasn't yet signed the new contract apparently on the table, his friend Jose is already there and they desperately need to upgrade from Carragher... Hopefully a load of bollocks and the source is very dodgy, but until he signs that new deal with us then very little would surprise me.
