how bad was the williamson injury?

Looked bad enough to know we only have two fit CB's for Sunday, not sure if its longer than that though. A good reason to find a decent loanee you would have thought as we are short in that area, shame common sense isnt allowed at HQ

Pieters: "maybe Sunday on Newcastle bench '

PSV won 5-0 on Thursday night with SV Ried and thus placed himself before the main event of the Europa League. Erik Pieters was possible for his last match in Eindhoven shirt.

The defender says it is nearing a move to Newcastle United. "If a club from the Premier League you would like to have, and that's the case, then you know that the financial resources available," said Peter in conversation with the newspaper.

The international knows that it all can go fast. "Sunday with PSV at Excelsior or already on the bench for Newcastle United. I do not know. Oh, it's just beautiful. I myself have not seen much of Newcastle United, but my buddy Tim Krul keeps me informed."

The 23-year-old left-back has begun his fourth season at PSV service, in 2008 he joined FC Utrecht to Eindhoven. At the club coach Fred Rutten has Pieters has a contract until the summer of 2014.

I keep saying it all out load in a Mclarenesque voice

I know nothing of the player but we are desperate for a natural left back, Taylor has done better than expected even taking out the two excellent free kicks. Not enough to warrant a starting place but I will not be filled with as much woe as in the past if he does have to step in instead of Simpson.

In fact, I am no Simpson hater but think that Taylor has played better than him this season, maybe I am lying to myself and the two free kicks have blinded my judgement, but if Pieters was eligble for Sunday I won't be too disappointed to see a back four of Raylor, Taylor, King Colo, Pieters

At least it will probably be cheaper for Mike, plus he won't have to pay Pieters and appearance fee for Sunday.

Then he'd probably die. He might come on a ship though

I don't know why but this just drew a girly giggle from me ???

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Simpson is that much better than Taylor and Taylor offers free kicks.

agreed - taylor and simmo fighting for rightback is fair. and actually i wouldn't mind taylor on the right side of midfield against strong teams. that would allow extra cover as well as the free kicks

Its still at the back of my mind - would I actually be saying this if he didn't score two goals? To be fair his free kicks are such a weapon, I really hope he can get some form behind him. He's been pretty much bit part since he's signed and there's hardly been a murmur for him. Really looked gutted on his come back v Bolton last season when he was sent off. Plus he smiled last night. Pardew does bring the best out of our players. :)
