Guest
Carson had a fairly good Premier League run at Villa & WBA to be fair. Kirkland just seemed injury prone. (completely forgot he spent 2 seasons in Turkey!)
Guest neesy111
didn't Kirkland recently write an article detailing how he was really depressed during his career, but it was a time when it was not as in the open so he bottled it up? Could be more the reason he didn't quite get there On friday.
Guest firetotheworks
Both had good careers relatively speaking, but Scott Carson especially was hyped a canny bit iirc. Obviously the counterargument is Hart at Birmingham, De Gea being first choice being allowed the mistakes early on.

Lush Vlad
Distribution has been much better of later. But even ignoring the slow motion dive, that resembled a tree being felled. I thought his kicking had us in bother a couple of times today.
afar
Given, Pickford, Krul... Those are prime example of taking the chance. Lets face it without the rigidity we have under Rafa's structure, we are in a pretty good place to take a chance on him, he's going to get a chance to shine but not be expected to keep us in games. Pilko
That first goal was absolutely garbage keeping like. Slower getting down to the ground than Harper in his later years and that's some feat.

Guest firetotheworks
First goal was defence's fault all day long Don't understand the hate towards Elliot Just goes to show how differently people view things. And fwiw thinking someone's not good enough or has made a mistake doesn't automatically equal hate.

I just think if one attacker has the ball for that long in the 'danger area' so to speak, and is allowed a shot as well, it shows a lack of defensive nous to properly remove the striking opportunity. It's hardly like they were caught out.
morpeth mag
First goal Manquillo should have stopped the shot, there should have been cover from midfield to help out but Elliott has to save the shot. It's hardly like they were caught out. It's been mentioned but he was shepherded away from a much more dangerous position to the edge of the area where his shot was weak. Manquillo did the right thing, trying to get the ball there is suicidal.
HawK
Manquillo did Ok, but I think someone else should have also come out to help close down once he was being worked towards the edge of the area. One feint or drop of the shoulder and it's a shot at the goal, I believe PL defenders should know this. No defender wants to be left 1-1 vs any PL striker imo. Guest firetotheworks
Okay, so let's say all of that's right, Elliott should still save the shot. Unquestionably.
tinoasprilla
he was poor first goal apart. Flapped at a couple of crosses early on and his kicking was shocking. If we actually sign any players in January the top two priorities for me are GK and CF
Pilko
First goal was defence's fault all day long Don't understand the hate towards Elliot Don't agree. It was shite defending and shite keeping in equal measure; either of those two does better and we don't concede.
samptime29
Jesus Christ this state of the board at times man Has Elliot made a big fuck up this season? No. Some goals maybe he could have done better with but FFS, this position isn't a massive problem for us atm. Upgrade in the summer for sure, but people need to chill man, he's not that bad. Wallsendmag
Manquillo just allowed Gabbiadini to walk around him for the first, the 2nd one was an unstoppable penalty. His kicking was poor again today but he can't be blamed for either of the goals ffs.
Varadi
They had 2 shots on target and scored 2 goals, he saved literally nothing. He's just not good enough at this level. New keeper absolutely has to be a January priority.
Guest neesy111
Just because the 1st was defended badly doesn't mean Elliott was blameless. It was a slow shot at his near post, even a decent GK saves that imo.

joeyt
His kicking was terrible and fuck knows what he was doing with that van Dijk header in the first half. Can't wait to have a proper No.

Every cross that came in this after, had me in fits of nerves personally, maybe that's just me. At this level he needs to be saving some of these long distance shots that have gone in, the Stoke one and the one today, are ones you would expect a PL keeper to save. Unfortunately we have a section of supporters who aren't happy unless they're targeting certain players.
